We played wolf this past weekend with a pretty wide range of handicaps. As long as you come up with a reasonable number of strokes to give the higher handicaps it works out fine; one friend broke 90 for the first time and we gave him 9 total shots which would be too low in a normal stroke game but it actually worked pretty well, I think he ended up in third place by a point. Another friend in the group should’ve gotten at least a couple shots but he said he’d play straight up and he did not fare well
Played Southampton Golf Club yesterday, an old Raynor course right next to Shinnecock and NGLA. Short at 6400 yards but did all the template holes extremely well. Fairways and greens were firm and fast, but also in incredible condition. Felt like all the of the par 3s should have been 20 yards longer based on the green complexes or the shots they expected you to hit. Definitely not as big or grand as the courses next door, but was really fun. One of those courses you feel like you could play every day and enjoy it.
Think we are playing ht 2 weeks before. Schedule is tbd. palmetto dunes is solid. Water all over the damn place iirc.
SmoochieWallace you’re going love world woods. Had a great time on my round there. I want to find Mickelsons round when he played there to see how he played each hole. There’s not a straight putt on any green. It’s one of my top courses I’ve played for the fun factor and how nice it was. Got my normal group of guys I play with on sundays to agree to play on the 27th. Looking forward to having some money on the line with all them.
I've been wanting the Cleveland cbx 2 wedges but at 150 a piece I couldn't pull the trigger. Grabbed them on eBay today. New set of 3 was 300. I'm excited.
Stopped by Sweetens this afternoon and played a quick 9 and messed around on the putting green. Place was absolutely PURE. Also No Laying Up was out there. Soly played against Danny Woodhead. Also I lipped out on 4. Would have been a sick ace.
Were you able to snag a tee time online? We’re looking at doing a road trip that way and I was looking at booking online around our days but even weekdays seem to go fast
Yeah it’s weird. I tried to book something a week or 2 ago for a different day and there wasn’t anything open until November. Then we looked today and it was wide open all afternoon. From what I understand you can make most afternoons on Tues-Thursday work.
Good to know. I figured I wouldn’t have a problem on a weekday as a single but the site seems to be having some issues
I attempted a pretty heroic punch out from deep in the woods yesterday. Smoked a 4 iron and the ball hit something buried, bounced back and hit me in the hand. Also suffered a fairly severe ankle roll that hole. Fucked my round. Had two birdies and shot 99.
Posted this in the other thread as well, any decent public courses near Montgomery? I'm already playing the rtf courses.
Guy I was playing with a few weeks ago tried a risky punch out on a hill side just inside the tree line. Lost his footing in the backswing and tumbled like 15’ down the hill hitting a bunch of rocks and branches along the way. His leg was bleeding pretty badly and his ankle was swollen. He made it another two holes before calling it quits for the day
Guy I played with yesterday was telling my injury story this morning. He didn't actuality witness it as I was deep in the forest when it occurred. He only heard the shouts and saw me stagger out.
About 2 years ago my dad was rushing around in the morning because he was going to be late for an early tee time. Went in the bathroom and turned around to turn light on, slipped and fell into the side of the bathtub. Was in serious pain but went to play anyways. Made it through 7 holes then had to throw in the towel and called my mom to meet him at the hospital. Turns out he broke three ribs and punctured his lung on the fall. Had to get his lung drained of blood. He 100% now though. Moral of the story... you can absolutely make that 8 AM tee time when hungover as hell. Power through.
With my recent struggles off the tee and the way I'm hitting my irons, I'm really thinking about adding this beautiful bitch to the bag.
I want to go with the same steel shaft I have in my irons, but expected shipping date on that is Christmas.
I mean for fucks sake, Kisner has earned over $20M in his PGA career, your life might be a little different than the average person’s. FOH
Buddy I golfed with had one last week and they looked cool as shit. Instagram's algo working overtime...I've had to stop myself from buying a headcover they make from pictures of my dog two drunken weekends in a row.
