Keep forgetting to watch that
The footage of him resigning in 95 being like "If we don't fix income inequality, people are going to become very angry and disillusioned and someone is going to come along and take advantage of that" was crazy. Good doc for sure.
Such a crazy story. I listened to an interview with the director after watching the doc and it really blows my mind how spineless the IOC is. Between that documentary and the Joe Rogan podcast I listened to with Victor Conte as the guest, I now believe every Olympic athlete is on roids, period.
Has anyone watched Putun's Revenge on Frontline?
It starts slow and you may lose interest. Hang in there.
I started it after you posted. Pretty interesting, but am not far enough to have an opinion on the topic.
Btw, I always wondered what Gorbachev thought of that Reagan speech, "....tear down this wall!" Politics aside, I wonder if he was like "Did he have to be such an ass about it?" or was he ready for it?
I thought this was a little flat and repetitive.
Little Daniel was fucking insane, though.
On HBO. Very good.
In the middle of “13th” right now pretty good doc on institutional racism.
Voyeur is pretty good. What a creep
Did anyone watch Beware the Slenderman on HBO? Reviews seem good not great.
Watched the Jim Carey Andy Kaufman doc the other day. Pretty good. Jim Carey is legitametly going insane
I watched it and was underwhelmed. Don’t remember the details really, just kinda meh
Watched a couple of good ones...
Good not great. Sorry it took so long for me to respond.
Planet Earth II is on Netflix now fwiw
I've only seen the 1st episode but it's the real deal
Anybody seen the Netflix docuseries Rotten yet? I'm afraid to watch, I'm pretty sure there is a lot of footage of how we get our food, it won't be pleasant. I've seen it before and it's tough. We should probably all watch it though.
Dope is incredibly hard hitting, makes me beyond sad
It was bad, not good.
It should have been a 15 minute doc
It was so draining once the movie started focusing on his method acting. I couldn't imagine being around him. You could tell that everyone around him hated him so they had to bring in Andy Kaufman's old friends as punching bags.
The craziest part was how he felt it was acceptable to talk to Andy's daughter (that he gave up for adoption) for 2 hours as if he was her dad. So weird. She's probably weird, too.
I don't know if I can keep watching Dope, episode 2 focusing on Baltimore was awful. Heroin is the fucking worst, of course our government is more concerned with weed.
Almost through the doc series Rotten. Pretty good so far, on ep 5 of 6
Was surprised how much I liked AlphaGo.
I loved the passion of the world’s best player. The shock when he sees what the computer was capable was raw.
I feel pretty dumb never having heard of the game until I watched the documentary. It’s the oldest continuously played board game in the world.
I’m watching it. Just started. Why are these distributors and dealers openly on here? The one guy has the most distinct RV lol. Do we find out?
Ew, episode 5 is on the milk industry. People actually drink raw (non-pasteurized) milk?
Breast milk has a lot of pros
It’s raw cow milk. People are close to anti-vaxxers. Believe it can cure pretty much everything even though there’s no evidence to back it up and you’re more than 150x more likely to get sick drinking it
I know somebody like this. Anti vaxxer, only buys raw milk for the kid, made her husband build a huge garden in the back yard to grow all their own vegetables, wanted to do a chicken coup but the HOA said no.
It really is amazing. They said 80% of heroin users get their start from opiates. Doctors will hand them out like candy but god forbid people smoke a little bit of harmless marijuana
yeah that was strange. I also thought all the Jerry Lawler stuff was weird too since Jim was playing up the only part he had ever seen of Andy and Jerry's relationship; the antagonistic part that was on TV. When even Jerry was saying that he didn't know what Jim was doing since behind the scenes, him and Andy were actually good friends and planned out all of their on screen animosity together.
What is this Dope yall are describing? Sounds like the show Drugs Inc.
First couple episodes are like real life The Wire then goes to marijuana mules from Mexico then the crack game in Chicago. I thought it was great.
Edit: just noticed my Netflix actually skipped ep 1 for some reason. That one is about Oakland. Nonetheless, it’s very good.
Haven't finished it yet but episode 3 of Dope is incredible. Pretty much Gangland Sinalol Cartel edition with incredible detail.
I watched it this weekend. I thought it was great. Really interesting if you like machine learning, as well as the brilliance of the professional Go players.
I'm watching Ken Burns Baseball
Netflix used to have all his docs and took most down but found out Amazon has them
Watched AlphaGo, interesting. Started looking into rules of the game afterward
Amazon has stepped up that Prime video game recently. Added a bunch of good shit.
This Chicago episode of dope has me shook as hell
I am enjoying rotten. Kind of weird stories.
Enjoyed 'Gray State' on Netflix
Iraq war vet comes home and begins making a movie about the govt taking over and declaring martial law in the major cities. Movie never gets off the ground, dude descends into madness driven by paranoia and conspiracy theories, subscribes to and meets Alex Jones several times, finally snaps and murders his wife and daughter and kills himself. Weird shit, wrote allah akbar on the wall of his living room in his wife's blood.
Through 2 eps of Dope. 0% chance of me ever being the camerman
Wait till episode 4. I had nightmares
Hired Gun on Netflix is pretty good
Watched Icarus last night. Really good
Filmmaker is one of the best amateur bicyclists in the world. Finished 14th in the amateur version of the Tour de France. Decides to see if he can place better doping, and to make a film in it, basically doing the same doing Lance did. Ends up working with the Russian who was head of their testing. Reveals all of the doping and co earring up the Russians did in the olympics
just finished Icarus, that was really well done
Treasures from the wreck of the unbelievable. Some of the things they found were pretty badass.
Just finished treasures from the wreck of the unbelievable...
Spoiler: For those who have watched
what was with the Mickey Mouse statue at the end?
Recently finished his Vietnam War series. Wow is all I can say.
