"Portsmouth furiously criticised Sacha Gaydamak after admitting they are set to fold following their failure to come to agreement over a debt to the former chairman." http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22102010/58/championship-portsmouth-set-liquidation.html
It's been 20 years since a club went out of business. This is insane. I'm hoping the deal somehow goes through and they salvage this club. I always thought they were pretty cool.
"Portsmouth have come out of administration after being sold to a company controlled by their former owner Balram Chainrai." http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24102010/58/championship-portsmouth-administration.html
Great news. They've been putting up a good fight in the Championship and worked their way back up to the middle of the pack.
Simon Peach @SimonPeach #Pompey to close on August 10, according to administrator Trevor Birch. I hope it doesn't come to that. Football needs rivals #SavePompey FC Business Magazine @FCBusiness #Portsmouth will go out of business on August 10th unless an agreement can be reached over the wages of their senior players. #Pompey
Pompey currently has no owner and reports are that they borrowed about 10.5m to buy players and pay wages this year. 10.5m that will obviously never be paid back. This club is run by absolute fucktards.
I don't feel bad for the club, but I do feel bad for the fans. They're like the St. Pauli of England.
Wiki page looks pretty sad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_F.C. And I can't believe creditors were offered 2 Pence for every Pound owed. Wow.....
The last player departed on the 10th. Their match with Plymouth today was dreadful by all accounts. Oldest player for Pompey? 18. The takeover has to happen by the weekend I believe or they are done and it doesn't look likely. Edit: Chanrai has withdrawn his bid. They're fucked.

They already are. They've completely turned over their roster and can't commit to more than one month of wages at a time.
Fucking lol at month long contracts and that they fielded an assistant coach in their lineup for the LC.
Anyone down for a trip to Portsmouth? I say we buy some kits from Stephen William and just show up in the locker room. I'll happily collect minimum League One wages and help them get relegated again.
Ian Darke @IanDarkeESPN Pompey get 17,000 crowd in third tier after 29pts deducted in 3 years and with diet of endless bad news. Superb fans.
1-1 draw with Bournemouth today. That's about 3 months sooner than I expected them to get their first point.
Portsmouth have now been in administration for an entire year, somehow, and are £60m in debt. Either the Pompey Supporters Trust buys them out of administration by the end of the season or they'll lose their football league membership. They were forced to turn down a bid for another buyout. Best case scenario has become relegation to League Two. Worst case is complete liquidation. God damn.
