It’s Official, The Joker Is Totally Coming To ‘Gotham': See The Pics And we're pretty dang sure we know who's playing him. In Season 2, “Gotham” will tell us the story of how the Joker came to be — and now we’re pretty sure we know exactly who’ll he’ll be, too. Former “Shameless” star Cameron Monaghan shocked “Gotham” audiences last season as the psychologically twisted circus worker Jerome Vasalka, which showrunner Bruno Heller promised would mark the “beginning of the Joker Saga” back in February. But at the time, no one would say one way or the other that Jerome WAS definitely the Joker… but now it seems like he certainly will. First, Monaghan all but confirmed his transition into the iconic with this creepy, grinning Instagram photo. Then, the official “Gotham” account tweeted out the same photo with the caption, “Life’s a bowl of cherries… but this is far from the pits. We’ve put a smile on your face, haven’t we?” Shudder. Meanwhile, on set in the Bronx, Monaghan was seen decked out in a freaky straightjacket while he other similarly dressed actors film a scene involving a schoolbus full of children and… gasoline. Yikes. Jose Perez/ Splash News
I agree. Great casting and acting. Would love to see him as an adult joker in a movie after he gets some age on him.
I'm probably being a cunt because I'm a comics fanboy, but I really hate what they did with Jerome. Now the real Joker will essentially be a copycat Jerome wannabe, which really detracts from the character, IMO.
Although I never have read any comics, I was thinking the same thing. I kept hoping it was all a ploy and he was actually still alive. Like you said, the future joker is supposedly just a copy cat which I don't like because Jerome was batshit crazy but also a great character.
Barbara got so much hotter this season. Probably because she's not a whiny cunt. Also I bet the "sister" kills the leader or something like that.
Couldn't agree with you more. They had the perfect cast for the joker...look, talk, mannerisms, laugh....and now he's gone. I was stoked about watching him develop throughout the show. I could at least see something like that happening in a season finale but 2 episodes in. That just sucks.
I agree with everyone here about Jerome. They keep awful Fish Mooney on waaaaay too long, and then kill off one of the best characters in the entire show. SMH
‘Gotham’ Season 2 Casts Paul Reubens as Penguin’s Dad Paul Reubens is coming (back) to Gotham City. The Pee-wee Herman actor will appear in Season 2 of FOX’s Batman prequel Gotham as Penguin’s father — the same role he played 23 years earlier in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. Robin Lord Taylor stars in Gotham as Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. the Penguin, and Carol Kane has a recurring role as his mother Gertrude. Read the Gotham Paul Reubens casting announcement after the jump. Taylor shared the big news at the show’s New York Comic-Con panel today. Here’s the pertinent quote (via EW): So we’re all familiar with Oswald’s mother, the fabulous, fabulous Carol Kane. We don’t know a lot about his father… We just found out that I do have a father. And he will be showing up very soon, and he will be played by none other than Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-wee Herman! He’s playing my dad! What! The! Hell! The site adds that Taylor “was so excited actress Erin Richards (who plays Barbara on the show) grabbed his name card and fanned him with it while the audience cheered.” Aww. He later carried that excitement over to Twitter, even sharing a family portrait: Big news: Paul Reubens will be playing Penguin's father in @Gotham. Unreal. I have the best tv parents. Legends.pic.twitter.com/45v6iiks4y — Robin Lord Taylor (@robinlordtaylor) October 11, 2015 In Batman Returns, Tucker Cobblepot and his wife Esther are members of Gotham’s upper crust. Unable to accept their deformed infant son Oswald, they abandon him to the sewers to die. Instead, he washes up at the Gotham Zoo, where he is taken in by penguins. The exact nature of Oswald’s relationship with his father in the Gotham mythos is not yet clear. But given A) Oswald’s twisted personality, B) Oswald’s uncomfortable relationship with his mom, and C) the fact that this is a superhero saga, where pretty much no one has a healthy relationship with their parents, it’s probably safe to bet we’re in for one weird family reunion. Reubens played a different Bat-character, Bat-Mite, in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold. In addition, he got his own superhero role in the 1999 genre spoof Mystery Men, where he played the flatulent Spleen. He recently wrapped Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, which hits Netflix next year. http://www.slashfilm.com/gotham-paul-reubens-penguin-father/
idk thats just what I've read on a couple tv sites on the Gotham reddit, they say that Kristen Kringle might be Harley Quinn too and now I'm just in a Gotham wormhole full of show theories
the girl that plays Silver is 15 in case anyone didn't know. I need to remind myself every time she is on screen.
Did everyone give up on this show? I think it's getting pretty good. Little Bruce developing into a hard ass.
I'm still watching. About 3/4 through the Fall finale. I think season 2 has been a lot better than season 1
It's definitely a huge step up from Season 1. I gave up watching last season and only caught up over the summer when I was desperate for something to watch late at night. I really like how they are portraying young Bruce. Again, I just can't express enough how terribly they botched Jerome. In that universe, they irreversibly diminished the greatest comic book villain of all time.
