Came out last night at midnight. I think I'm going to take a brake from Elden Ring and play it this weekend. Anyone else excited for it?
I guess no ones playing it. I played about 5 hours over the weekend. You get a lot of good cars for free just by doing the storyline. I did one race online where there's a PP cap and had to be one of the 3 starting cars. I went with a stock car and got 10/14....because the other 4 rage quit. You definitely need to tune and change up the settings on your car if you want to win online.
I bought it as well. Playing it intermittently to keep myself from binging Horizon too much. The presentation is excellent. Love the DualSense implementation. I’ve only spent time on the licenses and Sunday Cups so far. I forgot how maddening it is to see yourself get silver because of a fraction of a second.
The license tests can definetly be frustrating. I got gold in the all of the first 2 licenses (A/B I think). Some I got on first try and most took me a few tries. They help me race better which is nice. I was just flying into corners and braking late. It's helpful to see the time difference when I brake early and accellerate out vs in. It's also pretty easy to get credits. I have 1.5million and I'm not even sure how. Not to mention I have a ton of good cars while only purchasing a few (Tundra for truck races, Charger Hellcat for some American race I couldn't enter, and a Radical SR3 SL 13' that is amazing). It's missing a lot of the common shitty cars some of the older games had that I kind of enjoyed being forced to drive. I absolutly hate PT Cruisers (wife has been hit by 2 and they're ugly AF) and there used to be a PT Cruiser race.
I love playing racing games but dont have the time to grind. Is it pretty much fun to pick up and play for occasional racing or is that not really the point of GT7?
You don't need to grind for GT7 imo. You easily win a lot of good cars and following along with the missions (menu) you open up more tracks and cars. I haven't grinded yet. I remember grinding a ton some random VW Beetle race to get enought to buy an average FR car. It's not like that anymore.
Game looks gorgeous but my catalog is so backed up right now. How’s it compare to the CodeMaster’s series and Forza?
I'm so backed up on games, barely have time to play the ones I do have, don't have a ps5 yet - but damnit this looks good and brings back memories of playing GT2 back in high school.
Having fun with it so far. I noticed the HUD tracks mileage on the car. What happens when your car gets into the 150k+ range?
You can go to the shop that’s down near the tuning store and do total engine rebuilds and you can do oil changes. It gives you a rating on your engine and oil health you unlock it doing some of the menu collection things
Lack of car damage, bouncing off walls and cars, and not spinning out when going off track are let downs. Forza nailed those but I think I enjoy the driving experience more with GT
I've been having shit loads of fun playing. Just got into the livery editor and started figuring shit out. Made a Ukrainian themed car just so I could go into scapes and snap a pic in front of The Kremlin. Fuck off Putin.
I preordered the game because I’ve always loved the franchise. Servers are down for extended maintenance
Love GT but still mad that a “true sim” would not let you qualify and instead start you 2 miles behind the leader
I seem to spin out and not bounce off walls. Do you have the driver-aid settings turned on? Slowly turn them off and enjoy running off the track and spinning out on turns.
Servers being down for 30 hrs in the first week for an always online game doesn't seem great. What person even thought making this type of game always online would be a good idea? The actual game seems like a lot of fun from what I've seen, though.
I played this a lot last night. I don't think I'll be able to platinum it (license tests). I beat all the menu's and I don't really know what else to do. I bought a Dodge car that had 1300PP for $1 million and then realized it didn't qualify in any race. I tried doing the dirt track races yesterday and couldn't win any. I think I need to mess with the settings.
I haven’t dabbled yet but the multiplayer modes seem fun with the SR and DR(?) rating system. Forza Motorsports was a more true racing sim. If you touched another vehicle or wall it set you back big time. Also helped that it had a rewind option so you didn’t have to start back from start to offset a slight mistake.
I may do that just to get the platinum. No way I grind 20million credits or whatever is needed to buy the 3 legendary cars.
I've unlocked a bunch of American tracks but there are no dang races available for any of them. What the hell is that about?
I jumped back into playing this week and decided to try my hand at making liveries. I'm having a good time with it.
Hey same. Been a pretty stressful week but I can get to a zen-like state playing GT7 for a bit. I’m contemplating getting a wheel but going to sit with that idea for a month or so and see if I still want it.
I've thought about getting a wheel but I have nowhere to put it and I'd have to revamp my whole setup. So I'll just keep over suping up my cars and destroy the AI with a control
I just did a race where it recommened 600 PP. Had my maxed out Mustang which is 740+. Kept it nice and easy through then entire course and passed the field on the straights. Clean race for the extra payout.
