Weather Underground has a coronavirus filter that breaks down cases and deaths by county. Better on PC than mobile. https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap?lat=42.71&lon=-83.31 Hit the coronavirus symbol.
My parents fled from Bloomfield to their place Up North last week. I highly doubt they come back anytime soon with those types of numbers out there...nor should they.
the roads are pretty empty for the most part, so the lockdown is working. The majority of these folks were probably exposed prior to any lockdown, or even any testing that was available.
There's something odd about the death rate here -- could be in the data, but it's hard to tell. 1910 confirmed cases, 99 deaths for Oakland county. 5152/94 for Cook County (Chicago). 3518/66 for Los Angeles County, 9554/76 for Nassau County (Long Island). 4470/146 for Wayne county
It seems like the biggest inaccuracy in data across the board is what constitutes an attributable Covid death. Maybe OC is more liberal with it than most everywhere else?
That's my guess, yeah. A lot of early deaths especially in places like Seattle and LA got the pneumonia or upper respiratory illness tag, I'd guess. Just to give the quick ratio:
We probably have deaths here that happened in Wayne County as well. Not saying that means much of course since they live here, but people are probably going to hospitals in Detroit even though they live in a Ferndale, Oak Park or Southfield . Considering the issues Detroit is having, it probably raises the number a bit.
FOr certain, but the Wayne County # is high as well. Just another example of how fucked all of this data is. We all know there are way more cases out there, but I think we're just catching up to how many deaths have already happened.
My boss almost assuredly has it after the SuperBowl. Had flu symptoms and then one night he could hardly breath and went to urgent care where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He was out of work for two weeks in total. I got sick a week after with mostly just flulike symptoms. It makes me think maybe I had it but I’m not going to bank on it.
I think that the fucking Michigan to Florida spring break pipeline has played a role in elevated Michigan numbers, but also maybe the automotive connection to Asia. That's completely unsubstantiated, but that is my initial guess.
yep. That was in a Crains Detroit article regarding the automotive connection. Plus Detroit has a ton of direct flights to Asia
Moved her from NC a little under a month ago. A hell of a time to move. When does the weather generally get warm here. May?
I would guess until after Memorial Day to be honest. Probably want to ensure people don’t start headed up north where they could obliterate those health care systems.
My thought was the restriction of no gatherings of 10 people or more would continue until end of June or when school would have been out but not the shelter in place. I wouldn’t be at all shocked if you are right. When though? End of this upcoming week since the order runs to 4/13 now.
I was guessing May 18th, which would be 2 months. You bring up good point about waiting until after Memorial Day.
we are not going to peak until next Saturday. It will likely be announced this week that we are extended until end of April.
So who’s been getting carry out/delivery, and where from? I have been trying to spread the love around, but so far it’s been: Uncle Andy’s Republica Crispelli’s Kouzina Culantro
I trust that place too because they have had most of the same people working there forever. Sign of a good business.
Same with Capri I went to the UA in Farmington Hills. Used to go to the 12 and Woodward one I'm guessing you go to.
I will say I had carry out three times this week. I won’t be doing that again any time soon. Just needed a break from constantly cooking. I saw Imperial is doing carry out when I went to Culantro last night, so I’ll probably head there next week.
I just ordered Green Lantern. I’ve used DoorDash around 6-7 times in the past couple weeks. One-Eyed Betty’s, a few Mediterranean places, and Crispelli’s.
Wife and I first date was at Crispellis. The candy bacon at Green Lantern is great. We got condado tacos, hopcat and Leo's coney island this past week. Ordered Breuggers Bagels for this weekend
I’ve been ordering cookies from Treat Dreams in Ferndale every week. They’re delicious and I am eating my feelings.
Never had Treat Dreams. Lived in Ferndale for a couple years. Nick's pizza is legit. Great mediterrean pizza, especially if you make some additions.
In the last week...Even still working, the pandemic is gonna break me. It's just so boring, ordering food becomes fun...especially as a reason to take a drive Bad Brad's (speaking of candied bacon) Rochester Brunch House Chomp Buddy's Hippies pizza
I'm 100% with you. Food options seem to be one of the few interesting things in life these days. About two weeks ago my neighborhood started getting a different food truck for either lunch or dinner each day...order ahead of time...and just walk and go pick it up. It's worked out extremely well and everyone seems to appreciate being given that option.
We've gotten local takeout a couple times a week since lockdown. We luckily have a bunch of good food options for a small town.
