So, moving back to Indiana September 30th and living with a cousin. I'll be in the Michiana area and am trying to purchase a house just across state line because MI is the superior state. Any suggestions? Interested in Niles, Edwardsburg, Union, etc. townships and stuff close to South Bend where the family is. NilesIrish @?
Grand Rapids is fantastic and only 2 hours away. Unless you're trying to see your family every single day, this is the best option.
Weekends would be ideal. Moving back to help Mom and Dad with stuff around the house through the winter since my Dad is getting knee surgery and then I'll feel a little more free. Would like to be a little closer to help my uncle going through some stuff, but GR would be cool. Thanks man.
FWIW my dad works in Elkhart (South Bend) and comes home to Grand Rapids for the weekend. It's not ideal, it was meant to be temporary, but my mom apparently won't leave GR. Anyways, he manages the drive just fine.
This weekend looks fantastic. I'm heading to Tri Ponds in Allegan for their last weekend. Couldn't ask for better weather.
Which has better hunting? I usually go up north to Petoskey for a turkey hunt. More looking for White Tail.
Somehow missed this. I have a great realtor (PM me) Not sure what you are looking for but Indian and Ballard Hills have a lot of inventory right now. Depending on budget there are a lot of great options. My neighborhood has a couple houses up. Really anything on the west side of the river is going to be in a good neighborhood, some of the houses are older, but, the hoods are as good as they get. My cousin's house is also up for sale. It's damn nice in a good neighborhood and as close to the stateline you can get basically. It just has small bedrooms.
Yep. Great set up. Ax-throwing starts next week. It's a little pricey, but a great setting for a group outing
I haven't actually been there. That place was pretty decent brewery a while ago but had been vacant for a good while.
I'm less willing to apologize for Detroit than most people are these days, but this video is still pretty neat.
Nice, thanks for sharing. I grew up in Alaska, so mountains were a part of my everyday life growing up. Now that I lived in 3 different parts of Michigan (Traverse City, Kalamazoo, and the metro Detroit area since 08'), I have come to truly love this place. I have always told people, if there was Mt. range that ran through the middle of this state, combined with the beauty of the great lakes, it would be hands down the greatest state in the Union.
Had an opportunity this week to take a job elsewhere, cutting about half of the distance to my friends/family in Muncie. It wasn't a mindblowing offer, but about 20% more than I make today (What's minimum wage + 20%, HA!). I've only lived here for two years, so I don't have a lot of ties to the area, but at the end of the day, it just didn't seem worth it. I absolutely love where I live (Rochester), love downtown Detroit, love the park system, the lakes, the beer, the people, etc, etc. Pure Michigan
Yup. I will always defend Indianapolis as a great city, but I wouldn't move back there. Michigan is superior in nearly every way.
Michigan residents are generally worse than ISIS. One of the most beautiful states in the country is absolutely wasted on its people.
