I just had the greatest break in the history of mankind. Went to the mall next to my job to pick up some Chick-Fil-A and I walked by Gamestop so I took a Look inside and they had the full version of FIFA 10 out for you to play. So I played Chelsea v Aston Villa and won 3-2 in an amazing comeback (was down 2-0..BS FK, first goal was legit), but Drogba scored in the 90th minute in true Chelsea fashion to win it.

Then I went to Chick-Fil-A, devoured some chicken strips with buffalo sauce and Chick-Fil-A sauce and some sweet tea, and went back to the store. This time I picked Real Madrid v Milan (preview of tomorrow's game). Real is fuckin amazing, everybody is gonna use them online. Ronaldo is not super human this time, but he is still faster than everybody. I did some gangsta trick plays with him, but they have him set up too wide so it was hard to get good looks with him. He did set up 2 of my 4 goals. I beat Milan 4-0 (Sorry Shocker, Bankz and MilanDawg doesnt look good for you guys tomorrow). They made Real's D way too good.

Now I cant wait till I get back home to start my manger mode with Chelsea and play some of you fools online.

There is a Chick-Fil-A in my office building. Definitely going to get a sandwhich before I leave. I told my boss I had to run a bunch of errands and I was going to be gone longer than an hour.

I heard....might give it a try. How hard is it to play it if you dont know all the rules and stuff?

If it's good enough it may get me into hockey. I doubt I'll have enough time to play both though and once Ultimate Team comes out for FIFA is lights out, that is the single best game mode ever created for any game. Is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus (or fantasy soccer and FIFA).

Also want to point out that Aston Villa is badass in this game. For those of you without a set team in the EPL, it may be a great team to use. Agbonlahor up front is incredibly fast, Young on the wing is very good and they have a solid middle with Milner. They created way more chances (and scored twice on me) than Milan did.

    hockey's great

rule and flow wise, it's just like soccer except that there are more chances, more shots, and you can hit people

but the basic framework of creating chances, proper spacing, vision, and movement without the ball (puck) is still the same on offense; and the way you play defense is also really similar, except that you can check someone instead of tackle them through the ball.

biggest difference strictly rule wise is that offsides is determined by players going into the offensive zone (crossing the blue line that partitions your zone and the middle third) before the puck crosses it. once the puck crosses the zone, you can orient your players in any manner. but if the defense gets the puck and clears it out of the zone, all your players have to leave before the puck crosses into it again, since it has to be the first thing in.

like, if 3 players on my team are charging towards the goal, the player with the puck has to be the first one that crosses the blue line. it can be virtually crossing at exact the same time, but if someone without the puck crosses the blue line before the guy with the puck, or just the puck (dumping it into the zone) does, it's offsides

I understand the offside rule in hockey, and also get all the similarities to soccer and I have been intrigued enough to go to a few games (excellent sport live BTW) and watch some playoff games but it's harder to follow on the TV IMO.

The rules I dont understand are Icing and some of the stuff players do, like for example when they just shoot the puck along the wall. :idk:

if you watch in on the tube, you definitely need an hd tv and a big one at that, the puck moves too fast otherwise

you get charged with icing when you pass the puck and it crosses two read lines and an opposing player touches it before one of your guys. The red lines are the lines behind the goals and the middle red line.

it's used to prohibit teams from just clearing aimlessly and wildly the puck from their own zone every time, instead they actually have to play defense and try to skate it out of their zone or pass it out.

when you're on the penalty kill, though, you can ice all you want.

using the boards is a good tactic to fit the puck into windows and move it around the rink. if a defender is on one side of the goalie and he's getting charged by the majority of the other team, he'll often ricochet it off the boards behind the goalie to a defender on the opposite side of the goalie:

    ______

    D G D

Like, he'd take advantage of the wall there because it's a protected pass

shooting along the wall? sometimes teams "dump and chase" where you dump the pick into the offensive zone, give time for your teammates to get in, then check the defender off the puck and try to set up a play. it's like half court offense instead of transition game

Thanks for the breakdown I feel like if I could sit down and watch a game with somebody that understands the game I would get much more into it since there are a lot of similarities with soccer and is more fast paced. I feel that way about Rugby too. I wish I could understand all the rules and it could be shown more in the US. I actually watched rugby late night on Spike when it was on and it was awesome. Rugby is more complicated because there are 2 different kinds of rugby (league and union). :oshit:

NHL 10 is seriously badass Chilean, I'm sure you'd enjoy it if you got it. Like Fifa, there is a definite learning curve though.

Just got back from lunch. All I can say is :jizz:.

Played 2 games on professional dificuluty with 7 minute halves. Tied Man City 2-2 with Spurs and beat Belgium 2-1 with Nederland.

I never got around to downloading the demo so I was a little rusty but the game is just awesome. The smoothest gameplay in any Fifa by far. AI is improved though still not as good as it can be imo. I thought free kicks, crosses, and corners were a major upgrade over 09. Player size is awesome in this - being able to bully smaller players or being able to run by bigger ones seems much more natural than ever before.

The mainboard has to get a 10 man virtual club.
