And an honest guy, I feel bad for him personally, but sportsinally, good riddance

This. I’m going to clap and be happy as hell the day he gets into the Packers Hall it Fame, but things got stale and a change needed to be made.

An NFL coach almost always has a 10 year window at most.

What I really admired was that he kept everything in house, keep it professional, albeit sounding like a broken record sometimes

    He cared and showed it

    From the presser today

    Mark Murphy & Brian Gutekunst:

Murphy said Aaron Rodgers will not be a part of the interview process for HC. Gute said they will not consult any of their players. Aaron Rodgers had nothing to do with this decision. Not really surprising, but just to be clear.
Murphy said Joe Philbin is a legitimate candidate - yikes (probably just coach speak, due diligence, etc)
Looking for a HC that is wired for Packers culture and fits our system.
Looking to make a big change quickly with HC change and this years draft. Compared to New Orleans recent re-resurgence.
Gute: "CHANGE THE COURSE" - we have our off-season quote, boys & girls.
Murphy will still control HC decision, but Gute will be a part of it. Current structure will stay the same for now. "Murphy and Gute have a great relationship and will work together for best hire"
"This is an attractive job. Structure will not make anyone hesitate to want this job."
Gute: We evaluate players first, but we need to evaluate coaches as well.
McCarthy handled firing very well and is a first class person. No bad blood it seems.
We were hopeful this game would be a big win and start to turn season around. Our performance determined this decision. Losing at home to a 2-9 dome team.
Doors are open in the building. Tremendous respect for Aaron and will value any input from from him, but wont be directly involved, per se. Aaron is all-in and committed and driven and will be a part of getting this team where it needs to be.
Doing everything we can to win next 4 games. Focus is on these games. Give players opportunity to play and showcase talents now. Continue to learn and grow.
More change this year than expected. Looking for more continuity going into next year.

    Joe Philbin enters:

Disappointing result of game, thought they prepared well. Checked with all the players in locker room after game when Gute came down and grabbed Philbin to tell him the plan moving forward.
Feels like he let McCarthy down with the offense not executing. He knows how McCarthy feels, he's been in this position.
"I care about this organization. I love this organization" here to do his job for this team now.
Gotta do things better. Focus on Atlanta. We all have a job to do. Have to do it better.
"Not gonna make sweeping structural changes in the next 4 weeks"
Philbin did not call plays in Miami
Philbin does not see this stretch of games as an audition for HC job. Just wants to play to win.
Joe's ambition in 2018 is to help this team play it's best football. 2019 is the future and will deal with that when it comes.
"It's about making progress. We have to make progress as a football team. And we got to coach better."
Going to go watch defense tape on Atlanta's blitzes after this meeting to prepare.
Not interested in a ton of new schemes. Might try to streamline things a bit.
Defense is not his specialty, will allow Mike Pettine to continue to handle that fully.
"We don't have time to cover all the mistakes I made [as a head coach in Miami]" - got a couple chuckles.
No concerns about MAH KNEE moving forward.
Staff responsibilities are still to be determined with this shift moving forward.
Joe and his wife's 30th anniversary today, so she is expecting a big dinner tonight "Don't hold your breath, honey" - big laughs.
Is Mike and Aaron's relationship different this year than it was previously? "No, I don't think so, seems the same as it's always been, at least in our Friday meetings."
Aaron has certain things he can do better, but he can't do it all on his own. Have to work on timing, but it's bigger than him. We all have to play better.

    End

They asked about releasing Jordy last year and now the coach is gone and how they feel about all this change up this year. Gute kinda said something along the lines of not being able to plan for this much need for change, and you obviously want more continuity and more stability in the future. Pretty much sounded like him acknowledging it like yeah, things are a bit crazy right now, but we'll try to settle in the next couple years with new coaches/staff and there will be more consistency.

Sounds like they are shaking things up now so that we have more stability down the final stretch of Rodgers' career.

Murphy sounded irritated when Wilde hammered the structuring between the GM etc

McCarthy vs NFC: winning record except Falcons, Saints and Cardinals.

He was 104-65-2 (.615) against the NFC and 54-23-2 (.696) in the NFCN or one game below 700.

Wilde was right to try to pin down Murphy on why the power structure is what it is. That's the thing that frightens me most now. That said, I think they'll get an A candidate in the end.

Do believe Murphy shoulders blame as well and should be evaluated

Just name Gute the GM who's in charge of the hire

Not that I can speak, but I would be a bit apprehensive of the power structure as a prospective new coach

My homer view is to take a look at Zach Taylor, qb coach for Rams.

He has worked under McVey and helped do work with Goff. He also made Ryan Tannehill have his best seasons while in Miami. Young, and considered just a matter of time till he gets a chance. Smart too, somebody that can challenge Rodgers in that regard.

(Not saying to hire him, but bring in for an interview for sure)

I've only been to GB 3 times but here's my limited knowledge:

Kroll's is a good bar, busy af on gameday though. There's another sports bar by stadium that's allegedly good, but I had my son with me and its 21 & up

Black & Tan is the best restaurant I've been to there

    The stadium tour is cool

    Around the stadium:
    (Nice places)
Hinterland - Brewery with good upscale bar food
Tavern in the Sky - New bar in Lodge Kohler owned by the American Club

    Classic Green Bay Experience:
Krolls - butter burgers, cheese curds, and cheap beer

Shitty sports bars that are fun
    The Bar West
    Anduzzi's
    Stadium View

These places will be filled with your typical cheesheads getting shit drunk.

1919 in the stadium is a cool place to go to too, even for dinner the night before

If I we're going to give my recommendation I would say Hinterland and Krolls be at the top of the list.

Let me know if you are looking for anything else away from the stadium atmosphere

We went to Krolls day before game last time I was up. Good burger and my god those cheese curds are fire. Ordered a Bloody Mary and it came with a small glass of beer. That a GB/Wisconsin thing? I thought the waitress couldn't understand me when she kept asking what kind of beer when I kept saying Bloody Mary

It’s a beerback. Not limited to Wisconsin, but I’ve only seen it in limited places.

Almost always in dive bars. And Wisconsin is a giant, wonderful, dive bar imo.

So I'm thinking Josh Allen with our first pick would be nice.

Really outside of running back, QB, and DL there isn't a single position group that doesn't need an upgrade.

I have the worst feeling we're going 8-7-1 and missing the play offs on the tie fucking us and get a trash pick.

#Atlanta Falcons please put us out of our misery.

It was either 1999 or 2000 Damien Robinson and Bucs buttfucked us on the last day of the season. As if it wasn't bad enough during Super Bowl XXXII my dad made me pick one of those teams to root for. Broncos? Packers? GO PACK GO

3 years later Tom Brady showed up while I was growing up in New England and I stuck by. :yousoricky:

Only think he gets the job if we somehow play for nfc title. (it’s, like, a 4% chance we make playoffs so that’s not happening)

Our schedule isn’t murders row, but we aren’t very good with our yearly ton of season ending injuries.

Not going to happen. But having 2 first round picks is delightful. Need a Raji and Clay type first round.
