We also don't invest anything in special teams personnel-wise. Garbage in, garbage out. Not to say we've done a great job hiring special teams coaches (Ron fucking Zook?) and that is a huge factor but it's certainly not the only one.
It started with Ted Thompson holding onto late round picks like they were his mother's pearls in hopes that they would develop into starters and the bottom of the roster was just a black hole. I think Gutekunst has at least done a better job of churning the bottom of the roster finding players, and some of them do in fact help on special teams.
I even think that where he helps is having the pull needed with roster decisions to fill the bottom of the roster with the best players for special teams. The fact that he was promoted to interim HC for a team that made the playoffs should mean he is strong in that regard.
I feel it’s also a great ‘culture’ fit. The team has seemed really close under Matty and he is supposed to be a beloved figure among players. He can also count to 11 so that’s a good thing.
Does anyone have access to this to post? Before we go rehashing this pick, remember that when it was made Rodgers was not coming off of two MVP seasons. He was often injured and playing like his best years were behind him. Also, the same takes were written about Rodgers at this point in his career. Also it probably was a bad pick. Also it would be nice to have Tee Higgins or Michael Pittman on this team. I'm just interested to see the specifics of where Live is at as they see it.
I go Adams pretty easily. Douglas and Campbell both could be one year wonders and we know what MVS is.
I think we can find some players similar to Campbell, Douglas, and MVS on the market we can’t do that with Adams
There is absolutely no guarantee you get the same thing from Campbell or Douglas again. And MVS is what he is. Barring injury, you know what you're getting from Adams. This is a really dumb question. Really underscores how dumb Twitter fans are.
I didn't realize Koop's was from Wisconsin. I have multiple bottles in my fridge. Also cannibal sandwich is too high and should have been a first round upset.
He should be kicked out of Door County forever for picking Kaukauna over the GOAT cheese maker Renard's.
counter argument (not that I truly believe this, just playing devil’s advocate). The packers have never lost when Adams is out with Matt and Rodgers.
they are now 7-0 - most recent, undefeated Arizona (at the time) 2019: - Cowboys on road (aaron Jones big game) - Lions (close game, last second field goal walk-off, Lazard big in 4th game - Raiders 42-24 (huge game for Rodgers), everybody game - Chiefs on road (no Mahomes), insane Williams touchdown catch from Rodgers game, Jones game 2.0 2020: - Saints on road (probably best win, Lazard big game - Falcons on road (Big Bob 3 touchdown game) Some close calls, but it certainly was several really impressive wins. Part of the theory is it forces Rodgers to 100% commit to seeing the entire field. Obviously we need options, and I want Adams back, but it’s not a reactionary take imo. It’s based on a good amount of evidence over several years with different teams. Only 2 games were super close. Every other game was won by a touchdown or more and most of the meh teams were beaten pretty damn handily. Averaging north of 30 ppg as well.
Not saying it would, but we all can acknowledge, even if he is the best in the league, that $30 million for a wr is A LOT of money. I think you do it, but I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as it seems. Unless the goal is to absolutely go *almost* all in the next few years. One fully can’t go all in if almost half your books are tied up in 2 players.
That pretty much settles it. I’d be Hail Mary for a loss shocked if it doesn’t happen (this is Rodgers so this proclamation means this could really blow up in my face)
He has zero value. He has looked like absolute dogshit every time he’s stepped on the field. What an awful pick.
I agree with so much about you banks, but that was also Rodgers. why I agree with you, wanting to bring Rodgers back so much…well I don’t think we have it. He seems to be a Trubisky 2.0 (I won’t ever give him shit, hate when fuckers do that stuff, literally got drafted in a shit situation)
Oh I have nothing against Jordan Love, it’s not his fault he stinks. If he could ever be Trubisky level that would be a win at this point.
Ken Ingalls is a must follow for the next couple months btw. He is very thorough in his analysis and when moves like that are done he bothers to show the impact down the road. Like in $2023 having a $20 million cap hit on Jones.
