If we cut Cobb could Golden Tate be had for similar money? He could complement the other receivers well.
Cobb, Perry, and Clay are the three I'm assuming get cut. There is no benefit cap wise with Graham so he'll be around on more year I'm guessing.
So that may say a lot about the blocking scheme. LaFleur and the Shanahan outside zone scheme is a lot different than what Hackett was doing in Jacksonville. Bringing in a Shanahan guy at ol coach probably breaks that tie.
Following Randall Cobb's 142 yard receiving yards against the Bears in week one, he never again topped 50 yards in a game during the season. He averaged only 30 yards per game in the remaining eight he played in.
So over Thanksgiving I heard Ted is not in good health. Nagler mentioned it on his podcast today too. Everyone around the team is pretty hush on it but wonder when it all started, if it was while he was still the team. What I heard is pretty bad dementia, but not even Mcginn is reporting on it.
Yikes, he always seemed to me like a really good dude for whom football was his whole life. Prayers up Ted
Any animosity toward how his tenure ended shouldn't be directed at Ted, should be at Murphy. He wants to be in charge of football now? Well time to answer for wins and losses and if Ted was not well he should have recognized and made a change.
Even at 30? I think the TE is one of the more important positions on offense at this point. Directly involves the running game, and a good one is like having a top flight #2 wr that stretches the field and creates mismatches all over for others.
I'd be shocked if we didn't leave the first round with at least one EDGE. Other pick could be TE, another EDGE, Devin White maybe?
I think an edge is almost a surefire bet, from there I have no problem with a tight end. Hopefully these QBs keep going, let the strongest areas (the ones we mostly need) continue to drop and give us lots of options.
I don't care what positions they draft where as long as they get really good players. The list is about 5 deep at best of players currently on the roster that we couldn't expect an automatic upgrade from the player at 1.12 Rodgers Adams Bahktiari Clark Alexander That's about all I got. Edge rusher sure appears to line up with supply and need but if a better player is there they should take the best player.
I've posted before about Thompson's supposed declining health, but Demovsky slipped this into his article: "A source said he’s not expected to travel much to Green Bay anymore because of his declining health and the need to have someone travel with him."
I think Jones is as good as any running back in most drafts, where I’d probably agree is on health...and I’m normally not trying to draft a running back at 12 unless it’s the final piece. Otherwise, I completely agree, our roster has some gaping holes.
That's tough. Don't mean to be insensitive but Ted was the GM less than two years ago, we're sure he was still 100% there back then?
Mcshay has us taking the Iowa TE not named Fant with the twelfth pick with all of the Clemson defensive lineman left on the board. You could hear kiper laugh at him.
The only rule is it has to work. Hockinson could be Gronk for all we know and those Clemson DL could all suck.
Those Clemson players all benefitted from each other's presence. Do I prefer a pass rusher at 12? Yes, but I'm not restricting that to Clemson and I am willing to bet there are other players I'd take over Ferrell too
For sure. I’d just rather address rusher at 12 and worry about TE at 30 or in the second. I’d rather have Fant to be honest. But the other guy sounds more complete. But I don’t think he’s worth a 12
I definitely have an easier time closing my eyes and imagining Fant as Kittle, Ertz, or Kelcey and justifying that at 12 than a "complete tight end".
It's a fair question and at this point sits with Murphy since he not only was his boss back then but now wants to be responsible for football. Any failure by the team leads to him because either it was because of Ted or the new regime with him running the show.
They all suffered from each other too. Less snaps because they had 8 studs on their line. And with so many good guys around, even if they did well someone else could have made the stop on a given play.
All i'm saying is if Ferrell is still there at 12, and we're taking a TE - I have a fundamental problem with that.
