This is a question mark but I’m sure they didn’t know Jones would sign at the time plus we need some to take Williams spot
How much longer is Williams controlled? Jones and Dillon could make a really really fun thunder and lightning duo.
Dillon is going to be a stud. Letting him do the dirty work will allow Jones to remain explosive for the life of that contract
Center could be either Jenkins or Lucas Patrick (or other) and then Runyan or other will fill in at Guard. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Tackle taken early in the draft. There are a handful that figure to go late round 1.
I really hate that I see people on Twitter losing their shit because we both paid Jones and used a 2nd rounder on Dillon. Like having two really good running backs with very different styles is such a bad thing. Drafting Dillon is just as good as drafting a receiver because it means more of Jones' touches can come in the passing game.
Folks, you have to think about it this way. Teams with tons of cap money are signing people (and that’s mostly AFC) and almost zero NFC contendors. The Packers were a couple dumb plays/calls/fuck ups from going to the super bowl. Corey L. (Williams too, but Dillon has way more upside) will hurt and outside of that we are basically bringing back EVERYBODY while so many teams are being cut down by the lower cap. Tampa is doing well, so fucking let’s run it back. Draft 2 guys that are worth a shit, get guys back from injury. Zero damn reason this team shouldn’t, knock on injury wood, a top 3 nfc team next year. If they somehow land a cornerback? We golden. Pushing these contracts into future isn’t a big deal because in 2 years that cap is going to skyrocket.
What I’m saying is Aaron Jones can keep fresh and play all over the field next year. Another year of experience for MVS and Lazard and Adams is Adams. Get a d-lineman, a strong corner and another middle-backer. Draft or free-agency, either or. I’m as thrilled with the off-season as I could be. Russ Ball is a genius and this could have been ugly but it’s looking mostly insanely good. Aaron Jones is a stud. Don’t overthink it, he has 200 less carries than most studs by this point in his career. Dillon can flatline that. You have 2-3 great years left with him. That’s 1,500 yards guaranteed with 14 games played.
Tonyan is the wildcard. We either keep him or get a 2nd round pick down the road. I want him back for sure. But at absolute worst they turned an UFA into a 2nd round pick. That’s how you stay relevant for almost 30 straight years (and qbs, always qbs)
Not sure I’ve ever been more pissed at a loss where the game ended and I wanted to blame absolutely everything. Bucs beat us in first game and it was a wake up call. They rolled in the super bowl and I still don’t feel like they were the better team nor do they scare me. Nothing about that loss still makes sense to me. King jumping early and missing an easy bat down, missed holding at the end of the first half led to int, dumb defense led touchdown. Start of second half turnover, dropped pass by DA, kicking field goals, etc. All of that and your single point probably changes the game. FUCKkkkkkkkk
Now still go out and draft his replacement. Any veteran corner we would have signed would have come with their own issues (I guess if we had signed Xavier Rhodes he couldn't get torched by Davante if he's a Packer) but there is no guarantee that any of them would be any better than King.
Without a doubt I think we draft a corner with 1-2 pick. Would love to see a good d-lineman if we can as well or another wr. outside of 2-3 positions I do feel we will be able to draft for depth more than need, which is nice. Just hope we get more production/less injuries out of the picks this year.
I would love to consolidate a lot of picks (we have 10) into the 2nd/ 3rd because I think there is going to be a lot of value there. Especially when it comes to DL and WR. Would not mind trading back in the first and picking up extra 2s/3s and using those late picks to deal
Remember a couple years ago when we used draft picks on a fucking punter AND a long snapper? They both blow.
ive read the first 3-4 rounds are really strong but the backend isn’t that strong. This would seem to be an ideal strategy. If that means moving up in first or gathering more 2/3 round picks I’m for either. not great Bob.gif
Tramon's INT to end the Philly playoff game is one of the most underrated moments of the last 20 years of Packers football. We were very close to losing that game. Baller for a long time, should be in the Pack HOF.
Absolutely, the game felt on the ropes and Philly was going for the kill & he just read the route absolutely perfectly. The follow up? Effectively ending the game against a very good Falcons team. He has ‘coach’ written all over him if he wants to.
