Damn, that's very sad. He and Guy had a great rapport and it was clear they were close friends even when the cameras weren't rolling.
Came across this the other day. Good to see there's still real art being made in this day and age. A recreation in Grand Theft Auto Online
I'll be very interested to see what the final word on Carl Ruiz' cause of death was. If you followed him on social media you know he posted a lot, a lot, a lot about eating and drinking. Yet in the last year or so his weight dropped considerably. He was asked how he could order damn near everything on the menu at a fast food place he was doing a review on and still be losing weight. I saw him answer once that he only tasted everything and stopped when he was satisfied. He said this was how he approached eating in general now. He was good for at least half a dozen hot dog, hamburger and pizza pics a day on top of whiskey shots and beer to chase down some gourmet meal he was enjoying at friends establishments. He either literally ate himself to death or whatever he was taking did the job.
It’s probably not that simple but it also can’t be good for the heart to lose all that weight while still consuming daily shit that’s awful for your body.
He credited guy for helping him get off the booger sugar. Maybe he turned to an old friend. Just speculating
It's the magic that allowed him to lose weight while consuming tremendous amounts of food that is terrible for you that I'm thinking of. I know social media tells a lot of lies but I've followed this guy for a few years now and actually watched him consume enough food chased by whiskey and beer to choke a horse. A few hours later he'd be in some classy spot eating something drenched in duck fat or some such thing. Whatever he was taking in between that allowed him to stay upright and losing weight on top of it all is what killed him. It's a shame, I kinda soured on him in the last few months but I can appreciate his talent and personality.
damn. Carl was part of the latest episode of GGG. they had a brief tribute to him at the beginning of the episode
Confirmed yesterday. Heart Attack https://www.eonline.com/news/1083385/food-network-star-carl-ruiz-s-cause-of-death-revealed "A spokesperson from the Maryland Department of Health confirmed that the celebrity chef star died in his sleep, last month after succumbing to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which occurs when there is a buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in the arteries and restricts blood flow. He was 44." I'll say one thing, I always thought he was full of shit with all the food he'd profess to consume in a day on IG. I obviously was wrong.
I entered Guy's Dragon Breath Chili into this year's firm Halloween chili cook off. Took home second place. I got jobbed.
Currently watching the DDD marathon and Guy is at an Alaskan pizza spot that looks amazing while I’m home high/drunk eating Pizza Hut like a piece of shit
Some clown on twitter tried to compare some British bake off dude to Guy (as in a better version of Guy) and has been getting absolutely destroyed by the fact that Guy’s been married for 22 years (unlike the other guy who cheated on his wife) and does a ton of a charity work. We love to see our king treated with the respect he deserves.
...and just pre-ordered my Guy pop fig on Amazon. Wife had a 10 dollar and change credit on there, bumrushed that and paid 6 cents for the purchase
