Like Bourdain and his travel show is amazing. But I don't love his show for the food critiques. I like it because I find him funny and interesting, he goes to interesting places, and talks with interesting people. He is the first to admit he is no all-star when it comes to food though.
My dick could smell like a rotten tomato for a month and it wouldn't stop me. Still, she needs to watch those acid levels.
This is the only one I've seen. Doesn't cover everything but it's pretty good http://www.tvfoodmaps.com/show/No-Reservations
Bourdain is infinitely better for his literate, philosophical and often sardonic approach to the countries he visits vis-à-vis their food culture. Guy Fieri is like the drunk guy at the bar who thinks he needs to laugh louder than everyone else to show how much fun he's having. I can see him giving out a lot of awkwardly misplaced high fives and fist bumps as he stumbles his way to the bathroom. Who cares if someone shits on his parade?
There's a thread about it. Apparently he regularly takes shots. Clearly he cares enough to keep it going
I feel the same way, and I've come to the conclusion it's because I watch DDD, and I love all the places he goes to, so I subconsciously associate that positive feeling with him
Well that's stupid. I don't think there was ever a competition between them. The best on food network is Claire Robinson. Haven't seen her in forever though.
He seems enthusiastic about the food he eats on DDD. I much prefer the food he runs into than what Bourdain does. Id much rather be Bourdain and travel, eat and get fucked up all while being a completely sarcastic twat to everyone.
There was a huge debate about them while they were in their prime. A local radio station sports show made it a daily thing and my circle of friends debated it as well. I agree that its crazy but some guys I know prefer RR for whatever reason.
Bourdain is an arrogant dick who treats a lot of people on his show like shit. For that reason, I don't care to watch him. He's the TMBer that tries way too hard to be edgy. Fieri is a tool and, from what I understand, a dickhead irl. But his show is somewhat entertaining. Zimmern's show is by far the best regardless.
I mean, I've watched every single show that AB has ever put out, and I dont think I can recall him being downright mean to anyone.
Zimmern looks like such a dweeb and it's funny thinking about how he used to take little old ladies' purses and do smack while being homeless in NYC
kinda crazy how he's not the only ex junkie/chef/travel show host. AZ seems like a genuinely good dude though. I also enjoy his shows.
the restaurant industry is made up of pretty much all druggies, drunks, and felons. Its crazy. The statistic is that 70-80% of people in the restaurant industry would be legally considered psychologically imbalanced.
Yea he's awesome...he's just the last person I would guess who used to be a hardcore drug addict and alcoholic...he's like the John Denver of the cooking world.
I've only watched a handful of episodes, and it's been a while, but I seem to recall several snide remarks about the country he was visiting.
I think you're mistaken. He is always very romantic about the places he visits. As well he should be considering the places he visits. He's certainly arrogant, and very sarcastic, but I wouldn't say he's plain mean.
What specifically did Bourdain say about Guy? If he's poking fun at his cooking or his look, I say that's fair game. But if he's making fun of Guy as a person, that's out of bounds (and not in a good way). The reason why Guy is likable, IMO, is because he comes off as a genuinely good dude. You can tell that he cares about the people that appear on his shows and he doesn't need a voiceover for that to be apparent. He may dress like an absolute jabroni but there's a larger lesson there about not judging a guy by his cover.
I was watching Chopped a while back and wondered when chef became the go to career for the 'bad boy' type. Not to mention that at some point Chefs became the most tatted up group other than athletes/entertainers.
Guy: “Guy had decided that the two men running the restaurant were life partners,” Page remembers. “He said, ‘You can’t send me to talk to gay people without warning! Those people weird me out!'” From then on, show researchers were required to note any indications of homosexuality detected during pre-interviews.
I think whether you like Bourdain or Fieri describes your personality. Are you an elitist cunt that is constantly condescending and thinks you are better than everyone? Or are you an everyday Joe with a hint of imperfection but can fit in well with everyday America and appreciate the little things in life. Team Guy myself.
Its all just so redily accessible and the lifestyle revolves around it. Its similar to a rockstar but without the amount of money. There are always people around you either with the shit, doing the shit, or drinking. Your whole work is based around the evening so there is only one this to really do when you get off work at 10-3 at night after you have been around it for 10+ hours and surrounded by one of the most underratedly stressed environments. The majority of the people around are not the most "stand up, got their shit together people". and most importantly, You also usually have cash straight on hand. anyone who didn't have a restaurant gig in college missed out imo.
Sounds like Bourdain constantly antagonizes him...seems mostly harmless, but he went on a rant about when Guy is going to 'de-douche' and Guy is understandably tired of it.
He was ranting about a few things but yea it wasn't long or anything...by itself it's obviously not a big deal, but I can see why Guy got annoyed since Bourdain has just been calling him a douchebag for years.
I would love to throw a Lefthook right into Jesse Waters (O'Reilly Factor) face. Such a douche and his face is possibly the most punchable ever invented.
Guy is always rustling the jimmies of food cunts. Love Tony but Team Guy and his money printing machine...
