I like Kurt Suzuki. Gonna like him even more when he nets us a decent prospect sometime in the next week.
FanGraphs’s Midseason 2017 Top-100 Prospects by Chris Mitchell - July 26, 2017 With the trade deadline swiftly approaching, it’s time for some updated KATOHrankings. I know you’re not here to read about assumptions and caveats, so I’ll keep the non-list part of this article short and sweet. For each player, KATOH produces a WAR forecast for his first six years in the major leagues. There are drawbacks to scouting the stat line, but due to their objective nature, the projections here can be useful in identifying prospects who might be overlooked or overrated. KATOH+ incorporates Baseball America’s midseason top-100 list and Eric Longenhagen’s preseason FV grades for players excluded from BA’s list. Stats-only KATOH does not consider prospect rankings. These projections account only for minor-league stats. While I’ve done workwith college players, I have not yet attempted to merge college and minor-league data. These projections also do not account for any major-league performance. All players with at least 200 minor-league plate appearances or batters faced in 2016 and/or 2017 were considered. In hindsight, a lot of those early deals to shed money didn't turn out so great. Fortunately, the Heyward trade and subsequent Miller trade worked out well. I can't help but wonder if we had waited that year until the trade deadline to ship off the Kimbrel's and Upton's of the world, what we might have received?
There was another reliever prospect I noticed for the first time yesterday that has some pretty exciting peripherals. Jacob Webb 1.78 ERA between Fl/Miss 11.1 K/9 for career Struck out 31 in 13 innings (!!!) between Danville and Rome last season
The issue was less the timing, and more of they could have gotten a kings ransom for Craig, but they insisted on including Beej in any deal, which killed the value.
He's been around for a couple years, back healthy now from Tommy John. Braves found him at some tiny ass school, which they have a great habit of doing somehow.
Our track record is pretty questionable on some of the deals we've made for big-time players, I'll admit that. But we have raked on the minor deals (Kelly Johnson deals, etc.), taking fliers on guys other orgs gave up on (Gohara, Jackson), taking advantage of other teams financial positions (Touki), and drafting well. Hopefully that bodes well for sustaining success once we can get there.
will be a good signing once our defensive whiz-kid 3rd baseman freddie tragically dies on a linedrive to the face if only moving him to a position he played most of his life hadnt robbed him of all athletic instincts and ability
I agree with a platoon for Adams/Rodriguez Didn't know he was hitting that poorly vs lefties Or is Rodriguez playing RF for markakis
idk i thought he battled nicely in the first. gave up a hard hit ball to goldy but outside of that just had some bad luck with camargo missing that tag
Not watching but great move by the Braves today to let Blair go out do exactly what we all knew was coming. He fuckin sucks. This better be his last start up here. We had a chance to have a winning road trip @LA and @AZ instead we fucked around and let this clown get rocked.
If you aren't watching then you wouldn't know the last inning was a shit show. two awkward bounces off the outfield wall that led to a triple and an inside the park HR. Granted he gave up shots off the wall but it could be a bit closer of a game.
We're probably just trying to showcase Blair's talent for any scouts from teams looking to trade for him at the deadline.
