I think Dickey is doing about what they expected him to do, eat some innings and keep them in games. Bartolo looks like he's done, and Bonifacio should really be cleaning the bathrooms or something but certainly not on the 25 man roster. My real concern is Teheran. He's just been too up and down, is K/BB ratio is not good and he's just leaving too many meatballs over the middle of the dish.
It seemed like no one was talking about Jaime Garcia coming in this offseason and it was all about Dickey and Colon. Garcia is clearly the better of the three, but obviously has injury concerns. When Garcia is good he's really good and I expect him to be the Braves ace before the season is over as long as he stays healthy. I think his last start was more indicative of the pitcher Braves fans will see going forward.
Julio's last start was a step in the right direction. Bartolo's peripherals are all pretty similar to what he's been doing, although the small park doesn't help his cause. Dickey's been fine, and Garcia's been good.
Garcia has always had the skills ....just all about him being healthy. But yeah if anyone over the off-season was more excited about Dickey and Colon than Garcia than they are mentally impaired
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19439453/atlanta-braves-pitcher-bartolo-colon-driven-love-game LOL what a bullshit article portraying Bartolo like he is nobly playing for the love of the game while actually he is making 12.5 mill to go out there and throw BP to our opponents every five games sucks was hoping we could flip him for something good... It seems to me that Demeritte may wind up the better prospect than Albies comparing OPS and projecting what they can do for our lineup hopefully Albies will heat up though will be interesting to watch both develop... God I hate our rotation Garcia was a great pickup though...
At least you're getting the game. I've got shitty UNC/Miami baseball instead of the Braves for some reason.
I'm in Denver this week, so that's not available for me on MLBN. The course I am at actually came with tickets to the Cards-Rockies game. Hard pass.
It's to the point that I'm going to start turning on Snit with this running boni up there as the first guy off the bench bullshit
Jace isn't an MLB caliber player and shouldn't be expected to hit MLB caliber pitching. Same with bonifacio.
I understand they want to get Camargo at bats at AAA, but he's doing really well there and could help the big league team today. I believe Snit could find him 2-3 starts per week(against lefties for rio and to spell BP and Swanson), plus ph spots to use him at the big league level. It's past time to dfa some of these guys. Jace and Boni cannot be on the same MLB roster.

I think it's safe to say Brett Cumberland is finding his swing at Rome after a terrible month of April. His month of May: .340/.513!/.698, 5 HRs, 21 RBIs
We've only faced 5 lefty starters all year, so wouldn't be much of a platoon. Agree Snit could find him at bats though.
Admittedly, I don't know his splits, but he's a switch hitter. I think finding him 12 at bats per week is reasonable when considering his defensive versatility.
Austin Beck scouting report from BA: As an underclassman, Beck was a known commodity for Carolina area scouts thanks to travel ball and his own high school team. Then Beck tore his left knee's ACL just as his junior year came to a close and missed the entire summer and fall as a result. When scouts went to go see Beck hit in the cages during the winter, he was a different animal. The North Carolina recruit used his time away to fill in his frame, and his plus-plus bat speed attracted upper-level scouts early in the spring. Decision-makers didn't get to see Beck hitting with a wood bat against good high school pitching on the showcase circuit, but he's shown present all-fields power and puts on a show in batting practice. He is a plus runner and has a plus arm, giving him the potential to become an impact defender in center field, where his reads and route-running remain raw. Beck has moving parts to his swing, with a bit of a leg kick and some back-elbow drive to his load. In spurts he'll show a more selective approach and sound understanding of the strike zone, but he will also become more aggressive at times and can sometimes struggle to barrel breaking pitches. He is a passionate player with a fiery competitive nature to his game. Beck is a hard worker and comes from a humble, small-town upbringing. He is a high-risk, high-reward prospect whose tools compare to some of the best players in the game. If he proves that he can get to those tools consistently, Beck has the potential to develop into an all-star.
Assuming his list is right, they're going one of two ways. Lewis, Baz, Greene and Gore are the elite of the elite, and would eat most of the slot they have at 5. Beck and Nick Pratto (Cali HS 1B) are top HS players that could cut deals and allow them to spend more later on. Personally, Beck has enough red flags with the injury history and lack of track record that it'd scare me off unless it's a nice discount on slot, though I love the speed/athleticism and the pop in the bat. If Royce Lewis somehow got to 5, he'd be my guy, but that's a longshot. I also love Shane Baz. Gore's got the funky leg-kick that likely will get changed in pro ball and his mechanics are messy, but I love the present and future of his stuff. Nick Pratto can fucking hit, with a sweet lefty swing, but they'd have to be comfortable with him moving to a corner OF spot, as 1B only is a tough profile. Supposedly has the athleticism for the OF, just a great defender at 1B.
Yeah, Beck's intriguing but taking someone with questions over their hit tool at 5 would worry me. Would have to be substantially below slot. Love Pratto, but that pick would shock me. I wouldn't worry about the position if the kid can hit as well as I think he can. Will get in board with almost any prep arm since that's our bread-and-butter. I like Gore's arm action, though.
Pratto would surprise me too, but they love themselves some Cali kids, so it wouldn't be a total shock.
