Woman suffers heart attack during duel scene of the show. Someone yelled "gun!" People freek out and 3 people are injured during evacuation of the theater

I feel like 10 Duel Commandments gives the audience ample time to figure out that a gunshot might be forthcoming.

After a month+ of listening to the soundtrack post-seeing the play.

    Tier 1:
    Yorktown
    Wait for It
    You'll Be Back

And the 3 song run of Guns and Ships, History Has Its Eyes On You, and Yorktown is an incredible stretch. Yorktown in particular is just an incredible song to show the overall emotion of winning the war while also personal with the emotion he puts into meeting his son. It's just a great number for a critical point in the story.

Going to New York in July and just looked at Hamilton tickets and they're still $375/ea on the site (didn't look at secondary market yet). That's insane!

Dunno how yall feel about the mixtape but I thought it was largely dissappointing. I like Chance's rendition of dear theodosia and wrote my way out/my shot were good but almost all of the singing on the rest of the album just had no emotion behind it. Alica Keys John Legend Kelly Clarkson Usher all sounded like they were just going through the motions.

Would have much preferred Kelly's version if she did it like this:

I didnt care for the mixtape that much. Part of it is the songs are just perfect the way they are. It's hard to improve with different tone/pacing.

I paid a little more than that when the touring group came to Durham. I'm actually a little surprised they aren't more on Broadway.

I think Chicago might be the best place to catch it, especially if it’s winter. Can get good seats for much cheaper and the cast is really solid

The White House Correspondents Dinner won’t have a comedian roasting DC people this year but will have Ron Chernow give a speech. He’s written biographies of financial genius like Hamilton and Carnegie. It is beneath him to waste his time on someone who isn’t good at money.

Better late than never. After you listen to it for a while, read his book about his development of the play. It will blow your mind and make you appreciate it even more.

Also, I hadn’t really tracked this and I was listening to weird al because who doesn’t enjoy a good parody now and then

    1. Weird Al is incredible at rapping

    2. His Hamilton polka mashup is oddly satisfying

    3. That how i ended up listening to the soundtrack, so that’s weird

    B) He parody'd Hamilton.

That's a mistake. Learn the songs and lyrics. It's hard to pick up live and will give you better context for the show.

Didn’t listen to the music beforehand and was very glad with that decision. I mean, the entire musical is sung so the entire musical is on the soundtrack. Why would you pay hundreds of dollars to spoil it for yourself on Spotify beforehand

What isn’t? You’ve literally heard the whole thing at that point. You won’t be surprised by the quality, nothing will be unexpected except some elements of choreography and the stage setup. You’ll be busy comparing the performance of the actors performing the musical that you’re seeing to the originals on the soundtrack you’ve worn out rather than enjoying the full experience for the first time. You can only see/experience something for the first time with complete naivety once and I value that

Surprised by the quality? What does that even mean? If you’re going to Hamilton then you’re expecting pretty high quality whether you have heard the songs or not.

I listened to it a ton of times and when I went and saw it in person, I was completely blown away still except unlike some other people I know who saw it without having heard it ahead of time I knew the lyrics to the songs and wasn’t distracted trying to catch/understand every word.

Because it is so good the fact you’ve heard it doesn’t matter. I could go both ways on this argument but if you are going to drop $300 you should enjoy it how you want.

And I said I could go both ways.

Not listening to it causes too much intake and you’d have to see it again (which I’m in for). Knowing the basic and the songs wouldn’t ruin much because it is so awesome even after you know that America happened and the Brit’s ate out asses.

You don't have to listen but you should at least read up on the Hamilton Wikipedia page (for the person, not the play) to get the framework of his life. That gives you enough context to catch the lyrics.
