This made me laugh
currently in a queue for the February - March 2022 shows in Denver.
February 26th. my bff is excited
Thanks for the reminder, finally got in a bit ago but could only find limited view seats near the front so those will have to suffice. Wife and I will make the trip up that weekend
There aren’t any Hamilton Avatars on Disney+. That’s disappointing. Pumba it is.
Looks like you are in the room where it happens.
Ok so that was pretty cool. Really enjoyed it. Pros and cons to having listened to soundtrack and/or watched the show a thousand times. Pro was I could follow the show and watch the things going on on the side and background and not have to follow everything the stars were doing and i could still keep up with the story. The negative was, while the cast was very good, they just weren't what I knew and there was no way they could live up to that standard. The guy playing LMM was probably a better singer but he just wasn't what I knew. Overall was awesome though and we'll probably see it again in the future somewhere else.
Between work and some personal stuff, the last month has been shitty and super stressful. Watching on Disney+. This is a good mood booster
Hope things get better, champ.
really is. i remember how happy it made me when i watched it when it first dropped at the beginning of the pandemic.
hope things improve/settle down/whatever needs to happen for you!
Just shut it off before “Its Quiet Uptown” friend
It just makes me rage at the current state of politics
Listen, Jim Valvano said that every day I should laugh, cry and think. Hamilton will help you hit all 3
If you did a evil southern version of this musical would it be called Jefferson?
“you’ll be back” definitely becomes dark as shit
Just yelled Lafayette! And my son started clapping #blessed
Just bought this from non pussy/non both sider by the way
fuck hardcore history Carlin is no better than the Roman’s that watched the fall, he’d blow a guy named Octavian
Queued up, 3 minutes to presale for the June tour stop in Des Moines.
Your estimated wait time is: more than an hour
Status last updated: 10:00:48 AM
Went with the opening performance on May 17. Let’s go.
The presale code was Philip, so I’m assuming that is the company that is coming. It looks to be the same
Washington I saw last time, who I liked a lot. I’ll get a new Hamilton and Burr.
Saw this tonight. Wife and a friend of ours loves it. I’ve seen the movie, but nothing more. Always fun going to the theatre. Good times.
How was the line and everything with getting your vaccine card checked/masks? We fly up to Denver later this week, going Saturday night
Wife and I saw the night show in Denver yesterday. Donald Webber crushed it as Burr, and the cast was very strong overall. A few of them seemed to start out slow but really built up into the performance and were great. When I bought the tickets, all I could get were the very front row with “limited view”, and we were fairly blocked from the far left of the stage, but it didn’t inhibit the experience. The asshole behind me however did, with his constant bitching and kicking my seat. Luckily they didn’t come back after intermission
Wife and I are big fans and once watched a video of Fallon, the Roots, and the original cast doing Helpless with our 3 year old daughter present. She now asks to watch “I do, I do” at least twice a day.
Tuesday night. Seats are row K, center. Allegedly the best in the house. Excited for #2.
Today is the day. Opening night of the run. Very excited.
Marcus Choi, once again great as GW.
They seem to have ‘film-washed’ the cast for the most part. Hard to say for sure, given I have a live sample size of 2. What I mean by this is that everyone (GW being the exception) was cast and made up to match to the filmed version. Ethnicities, styling, mannerisms. Seems like too big of a coincidence that they just happened to do it that way. The last show I saw was the same company and the people and looks were pretty different from the broadway/film cast. Examples:
Hamilton - last time, black guy, midsized afro, no beard. This time the person had the LMM hair and goatee. His headshot is bald.
Burr - last time, nik Walker in a full beard. This time bald and clean shaven LOJ lookalike.
Sisters - last time, all three black women. This time, Eliza was Asian. Hairstyles matched the movie as well.
MdL/TJ- last time, tight clipped hair. This time he had long hair.
Even the bullet person had the same top curl style. Lawrence, Mulligan, king all way closer to the film performers.
Hard to say with 100% certainty, but it feels like they are doing it purposely.
Won ham4ham for this coming Thursday. Neat.
I saw Hamilton in New York a couple weeks ago. His grave, not the play. Alexander, Angelica, Eliza, Philip and…HERCULES MULLIGAN are all buried in the same cemetery.
But where is Peggy?
I rely on Angelica
While she's alive, we tell your story
She is buried in Trinity Church near you
When I needed her most, she was right on time
And I'm still not through
I ask myself, what would you do if you had more time
The Lord, in his kindness
He gives me what you always wanted
He gives me more time
Also, better HM? Hamilton or Turn?
Chillin with her dad and Chester A Arthur in Albany.
I need you guys to be honest with me.
I went once in 2018.
I bought tickets at on-sale and went a week and a half ago, last Tuesday.
I won Ham4Ham tickets for tonight (going) last Thursday.
My Wife won Ham4Ham tickets for next Friday today.
is this excessive?
Have you watched the Disney + movie more than 2x?
We doin it tonight. Gonna rise up. Gonna take a shot at watchin this. Will raise a glass to freedom if we get that far, telling the story of Thursdays night.
Got tickets in November, will be the third time
I enjoy attending occasional musicals with my wife. Live performances are great, but I don't enjoy them enough that I listen to soundtracks or watch film adaptations of shows I've not seen. Point being, while I knew the hype and the concept behind the show (and obviously the history), I went into my first viewing of the touring show last night completely new to the music and the approach to each respective historical character.
I absolutely loved it and will probably be jumping from ear worm to ear worm for weeks. I'll probably fire up the the soundtrack at work some time today, too.
If you have Disney+, I prefer turning it on rather than the soundtrack. I often turn it on in the background while I work. I won't watch it, I just prefer the audio from it.
I don't, currently. Boys are 16 &17 and the family in general is not into enough Disney content, including Star Wars, etc. Plus, we get ESPN through Sling, though with limited access (only one viewing device at a time). But now between this and the new Hocus Pocus, I think I'm going to have the ammunition to talk the wife into it.
What was your cast lineup? Should be on the paper insert from the playbill.
I don't have the playbill with me at work this morning, but I'm positive it was the Angelica Cast listed:
Yes, apparently, so.
