I'm going to eat the shit out of the price I paid for the fucking extra tickets in December... best to just move on and hope to get something out of them... makes me sick. Usually am pretty good about swapping tickets, had no idea of the lack of market in Chicago
Yea I didn't think it through either. I only bought two for wife and I but by next September they'll probably be able to be had for under face. Oh well.
not hamilton related but seems like an ok place to say john mulaney and nick kroll's show "Oh, Hello" is hilarious.
Half hour if anyone else is cool and staying home tonight (I have to work tomorrow morning. Shut up!)
Lol the "And Peggy" at the end. That was great. More focused on the actual history than I anticipated, but I thoroughly enjoyed it
Compared to the In the Heights doc this one is definitely more focused on the background of the show (history in this case) than the company/music. But I still thought it was really good. Showed a lot of good footage and interviews
The doc was great. Pointed out some subtle things that have gone right over my head like Lafayette's broken english being represented by basic 80s type lyrics, then later when he's more fluent in english he's rapping fast. When Jefferson comes back he's singing in jazz style as if that is still en vogue. He's been away so long he doesnt know it's old news and rap is the new thing. (What did I miss?) That blew my mind. So ingenious.
I am seeing the show in May, should I watch the pbs stuff now or wait until after? I haven't really watched anything related to the show yet
I don't imagine it would affect your enjoyment of the show if you watch it now. It was a lot about the history
I guess the only reason not to watch is if you were trying to avoid the spoiler then burr shoots Hamilton in a duel at the end.
I think familiarizing yourself with the story and the music will make the live performance more enjoyable.
For about a month I listened to it almost exclusively. Havent in a while. May do that while Im at the gym later.
I probably listen through once a week or so when I run out of podcasts. I have to have something as background noise at all times though.
The more I listen the more I love all the Leslie Odom Jr songs. I've never been a big musical person and those are the more traditional musical numbers but they grow on me with each listen. The Room Where It Happens, Wait For It, and Dear Theodosia have all risen way up for me
My two favorites (in order) are both Odom songs: Wait For It Dear Theodosia It's hard to pick favorites, but I think Wait For It has to be #1 for a majority of people.
Guns and ships is still firmly in my number 1 spot, but I often find myself constantly getting hooked on songs that I was mostly indifferent to in the past.
Yorktown is still my #1. Guns and Ships, Cabinet Battles, the Odom songs I mentioned and It's Quiet Uptown are the top tier for me
Right Hand Man is my favorite, love the history of the beginning of the war that's in it about New York
I have to admit, the King George songs are amazing to me. I love the performer, the lyrics are perfect, and those songs get stuck in my head like crazy. That said, all the ones listed above are awesome as well. Finally listened to it straight through on a road trip, plan to do so more before december. And sold my extras, took a loss but don't care, got about 70% of what I paid and I'm just fine with that
I was surprised they couldn't find a way to get him to sing more doing the voiceover for Kristoff in Frozen.
Anyone seen "Waitress" on Broadway? The wife is a huge Sara Bareilles fan & she wrote the music for the show. Considering that as a fall-back, if we don't win the lotto
https://www.buzzfeed.com/ellievhall...-the-thunder?utm_term=.ltAYX422Ao#.kqqGZdxx24 My Shot with Busta is great. Really looking forward to the Regina Spektor track (kinda in love with her)
Haven't seen it but I thought the Tonys performance was pretty good. Plus, I've heard they serve pie at the show
Felt like sharing that my 2 year old insists on listening to this soundtrack in the car. As soon as we get in, she just says: "Daddy, "And Peggy" please?
