so is there a chance that it gets picked up somewhere else? also i guess we must assume that Hannibal and the crew at the apartment got caught by Verger's bounty. But how?
Probably not. Amazon and Netflix passed because of Fullers time table with his new show American Gods.
I liked the idea of Hannibal surrendering simply so Will knows where to find him except for the fact that the episode began with him in the process of trying to kill Will. Ready for the Red Dragon story.
Yeah Im a bit conflicted on this episode. Hannibal just surrendering instead of being out maneuvered or trapped felt a little underwhelming. However him surrendering so Will can have access to him like something lingering over him fits this show much better. Cant fucking wait for the rest of this season. Also watching of this, knowing this is most likely the last we'll get of this show is fucking torturous. Just the way Hannibal would want it. :(
I dont have a hard time seeing his desire to fuck w Will more than his desire to be free and not be able to
This season started off a little too out there for me but the last few eps have been awesome. Can't wait for the red dragon arch
Hannibal is all kinds of gay for Will, or at least Will fascinates him like no other humans. He likes the Asian chick for some reason, but I think his obsession with Will is the closest thing to being in love with someone else as he can get. His desire to eat his brain and presumably kill him in the process doesn't seem to juxtapose well with his decision to free him, but he did make a point to Bloom about keeping his promises (which I also took as a veiled threat to make good on what he told her the night he gutted Will). And goddamn, Verger might have died even worse in the show than he did in the movie. It's definitely a coin flip, but that eel shit was just gross. Most of this episode was fucking gross, but these last couple have definitely been great and more on par with S2.
Will told Hannibal he was done... he wasn't chasing him anymore. Like Rubio pointed out Hannibal is so in love with Will this was his only way of staying connected to Will. I had no issues with it.
Finally got caught up on the season, Saturday's was awesome and easily my favorite of the season. Loved that it was so heavily plot based and moved things forward. Also, I am way ready for what's next with the Red Dragon story. But so bummed because this is probably it for the show.
Fuck NBC so much. I understand it's lose lose for them, but fuck NBC for canceling this amazing show.
Really the only thing left unsaid in the Hannibal story is how Alana gets killed and Chilton takes over.
Yeah I was like WTF when her name popped up on the opening credits, but she was fine last night. Like her new hair, too. Only like 3 episodes left. Fuuuuuuuu
And how about some fucking applause for Will's new wife? I mean, this bitch is ride or die, maybe literally. She's like the antithesis of basically every sourfaced wife like Skylar/Lori from what seems like every other show in recorded history. It's very refreshing for writers to construct a wife character who doesn't make you want to go Ray Rice in their first scene.
It is pretty amazing how unannoying Tara from True Blood is with great material. She has done really well so far. Feels like I'm watching a ghost already, though. :sad panda:
These Red Dragon eps are right out of the books/movie. I really like how they re-image all the Hannibal visits as discussions in his office.
I mean, the episodes have been done well, but the Red Dragon stuff being completely the same is a complete and total cop-out. I really feel like this season was just completely mailed in. Start of the season was way over the top with the "look at how artistic and weird we can be" effects, then some good episodes, and now a movie/book I've already seen.
I will say in the show's defense.. That if I knew it would be returning next season I probably wouldn't be so pissed about them following Red Dragon so closely. Knowing they wont be coming back took a ton of air out my sails
Again tonight was pretty straight from the books. I did get a kick out of Hannibal mocking them accusing him of communicating w Red Dragon " how Am is supposed to do that? In the personal ads? On toilet paper? "
Seems like Fuller saw the writing on the wall and is deferring to the movies now. At least it won't feel quite as unfinished that way.
The acting in this show is so damn good. How do these actors keep themselves on the verge of tears while holding a calm demeanor?
I still want more but I can live with that being the ending. Everything at the house on the cliffs was amazing.
That was honestly about as satisfying a finale as you could hope for given the circumstances. Just incredible. Makes me so angry when I am watching it and NBC is advertising their fall slate of shitty shows like tattoo bitch and Wesley Snipes in Vegas. So I took it as Will really did enjoy killing the dude and understood that he enjoyed it with Hannibal and thus tried to kill them both to break what would become an unrelenting cycle. Judging by Scully, he didn't succeed obviously. The Scully scene would have been so awesome if we knew we had another season coming, although I kind of feel like she would have been the one person to get away since she seemed to be the only one who understood the inevitable nature of playing the game with Hannibal. That scene with Hannibal and Bloom was one of the best of the entire series. I would have shit my pants and stumbled out of that room once I got the borrowed time speech. And damn, they just won't kill Chilton off.
I did not like the beginning of the season as much as I wanted to. Just all over the place, too much about the atmosphere, and not enough plot. I thought the second half was better and the last couple of episodes were really good. Last week's episode with the dragon vs. Will's family was awesome. That scene was so good because I didn't know wtf was going to happen. Thought the finale closes the arc of this season extremely well. Disappointed that this is it. Hopefully someone could give us some four or six episode seasons just so the story can be finished. I also feel like that would help because it would streamline the storytelling and we prob wouldn't have the issues we did to start this year. All that said. I'll miss this show quite a bit. It had been years since I had seen the movies and I've never read the books. So I went in with very little memory of plots/what happened. That made for a really enjoyable experience because I was constantly surprised. Good stuff.
I get angry that people hate on NBC for canceling shows like this. At least they're still trying. They've consistently put forth effort into turning real, quality shows with a lot of production value into hits. And, consistently audiences stay away...because people are idiots. Eventually they have to cut their losses, which are basically double when you think how much goes into production for a show like Hannibal. But, NBC hasn't stopped taking swings. They could resort to cranking out shit like CBS does...but they refuse. So, you have to give them credit for that.
