my two girl cousins are psycho born again Christians and are all always posting about things like this- they are stay at home moms. They’ve got quite the following of similar friends- it’s definitely a thing. They use a lot of bible quotes to back up the lifestyle
My cousin got married in some fire and brimstone church and the majority of what the preacher went on about was her obeying him regardless of situation, it ruffled my dad and I and my grandma nearly walked out. They are still weird Christians who homeschool their 4 kids but thankfully it doesn’t appear they took that completely to heart.
There's a difference in stay at home mom and that. My wife has been a stay at home mom for 5 years and she'd look at me sideways if I tried to tell her when she can and can't leave. She's the one thay sent that to me last night.
I have a lot of friends where the moms stay at home. That’s normally like, do you if that’s what works for your situation. It’s all about female agency in the thing though
I can’t imagine how tiring it would be having to answer 20 calls a day to grant permission for menial tasks.
Yea she does the majority of the house stuff bc she has the time but there's some stuff like dishes that she despises so I do them 90% of the time. She cooks most nights bc she enjoys cooking and I'm not home until 7 or so most nights. She's my daughter's Uber to all of her stuff too. But outside of maybe the hour a day she does house stuff she does whatever the hell she wants and that makes me happy. She's a fantastic mom and a great partner. I prefer that over a live in maid and chef. I personally just wouldn't respect a woman that was submissive. Nothing about that sounds attractive to me.
It’s wild the people that harp on Islamofacism are cheering on wives not being able to go out in public alone or after dark
Are there husbands making 300k+? I don't understand how you can have that way of life unless your spouse is making a lot of money.
Yeah was going to say the Venn Diagram of people afraid of sharia law and people who want to go back to when a woman needed a husband to open a bank account is just a circle.
Coptic Orthodox Church I grew up in has a marriage ceremony that includes stuff like “wives must submit to their husbands”…growing up with it as a kid, I thought it was normal. Then I’d get to see the reaction of people from outside that community- at first it was entertaining, later embarrassing.
My wife has been dropping little comments like, "It's nice to put you first", "I can't wait for you to try this new dinner recipe I found", etc. Now that I think about it, she may be falling into the trap. She works though and enjoys it, so who knows.
It’s entirely possible on less than a third of that income in non high COL areas. Skewed perspective IMO.
All that said I was a house husband for about a year of COVID and six months after the Air Force and I have never been happier, so I see the allure.
It seems honestly more cosplay wrapped up in a bunch of stupid culture war imo, a bunch of millennials and Gen Zers are weirdly getting into Catholicism as some kind of yearing for aesthetically standing out. I very seriously doubt that girl mentioned in the article literally asks her husband for permission about everything. She just wants a bunch of clout on TikTok, which she's currently getting.
She's less "traditional wife" and more "wears 50s dresses and shows off her big ass titties and other thirst trap click nonsense" for tiktok $$$.
Right, there's legit weird people into becoming trad now but it's seemingly more people liking the aesthetics and less trying to reimplement feudalism or something.
Not to get too psychoanalytical but she also mentions some precious experience with assault and I can see how that lifestyle would provide a feeling of protection and structure. probably mostly clout chasing though.
I like how they based the Tradwife on a couple that got married in Jan 2023. A whole 2 months and no kids. Entirely possible she is doing it for TikTok clout
REALLLLLLY not trying to judge the husband, but he uh isn't exactly trying to appear like a 50s businessman either, got a very metrosexual kind of vibe. Definitely an interesting dynamic if she honestly acts like this when the phone is not recording her.
Brother in law and his wife are this type. He's Canadian, old testatment catholic and a partner at Delloitte. He for fucking sure would be in Ottawa if they ever had a Stop the Steal moment. His wife had a decent HR job but now is a "freedom fighter, stay at home mom" as her IG says. Honestly fuck them, don't care what they do. What's terrible is they have a very sweet daughter that in the last year went from wanting to be a Vet or teacher to a stay at home mom, because 'having a kid is really hard'. She's eight.
Tradwife sounds like the conservative version of a sub/dom bdsm relationship. Whatever floats your boat tradwives.
Pretty much. These two are so fucking deep into the Covid and white victimhood world. The husband wants it because it would make him look like a good Catholic. The mother wants it because she can project her issues and problems of her life on the daugher. She is the most cliche wine mom that just day drinks while watching reality TV/Tucker Carlson all day and gossiping on social media. She serves no purpose in life and thus her daughter should have to endure the same self esteem issues. We don't talk to them anymore, primarily because the sister in law attacked the maid of honor(my wife's sister) at our wedding. They had to take the the daughter (the flower girl) kicking and screaming from the reception without her shoes in the rain at night because she was told she needed to go away because she was too drunk. Quite the sight. The brother in law and his wife blame us for the event. They call us a bunch of liberal communists and sheep. tl;dr, these types of people are the fucking worst and will even drag people they are supposed to love into their depths of misery.
I literally have a command word but lol at me not being able to leave the house whenever I want unless there is something massively important that I need to help with
Kind of any oxymoron. The brother in law and his parents are catholic, but like to use old testament ideologies as a way to hate everyone that isn't them. The father was in seminary school in Poland at one time. If you know anything about Poland's political situation today, that should be enough to extrapolate what ideologies they hold
I'm around a lot of unconventional relationships but that just sounds miserable for all parties involved
Some of the worst people I've ever interacted with were, supposedly, very devout Christians. We had this guy who "worked" at my company (*billed like 160 hours to a job he didn't work a single hour on) for a month or two. Tried to get me to tell his wife I was making him work out of town and we hadn't paid him yet as the reasons why he never came home at night and didn't have any money for his 5 kids. Edit: just looked him up on linkedin, he now does compliance shit for a large local county school district
