I thought all of the different common rooms looked cool from the preview video I watched awhile back. You barely get a glimpse of Slytherian's in the 2nd movie and don't get to see Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff at all. WB will eventually need to do a Hogwarts series on HBO. It wouldn't surprise me if they used this game to guide that development, especially for set design.
It's pretty incredible with the details. All the paintings move and there are a ton of them. The school feels lived in with students everywhere doing random stuff. The chess boards playing like in the movies, etc. All very cool. Only thing so far is I'm 3 hours in and feel like I haven't "played" much at all. Mostly just cinematics and dialog so far with quick tutorial type stuff. Looking forward to being able to do what I want soon and ther world opening up.
If you get new equipment that's good, but you don't like the look, you can turn the image off to your base or you can even have the armor that's good equipped and have it look like one you own(ed). Just click square when selecting gear and you can change this. Also, if you sell gear, you can still equip the look of the gear. So no need to ever hold onto past gear that is weaker.
How do you open the chests with an eye on it? And when do I get past level 1 locked doors? I'm level 10 and haven't figured it out yet.
This is a pretty great change. Let’s you get the best of both worlds. The look you want and the best gear.
which is perfect for me. I was playing on my wife's account and she came in the room and was all "WTF did you do to my character!?!" She had on a witches hat, ugly half moon glasses, ugly scarf, etc. While trying to pick armor that looked good, but actually provided a benefit I found that. It's an amazing QOL setting. I also love the fact you can sell the old armor and still use it's design.
i do love that there's no meter on magic or anything like skyrim, elden ring, etc. can just spam hit spells over and over (at least so far in my playthrough).

An open world LOTR game, with all of Middle Earth accessible, would kill me. I'd never leave. I'd never even play the main story. I'd just get a horse and ride all over the map, looking at sights to see, fighting orcs, meeting Dwarves in caves, encountering monsters in forests, etc. It's a goldmine of an idea.
After beating the MQ of Skyrim. Plus joining the guilds, dark brotherhood, etc… anytime I play now I literally just ride around on my horse and take in the scenery. That area outside of Riften where the leaves are starting to fall…well… it’s my Graceland
Honestly not bad of you enjoy the movies. Especially if you have young kids or a partner to couch co-op.

There are a bunch of little QOL improvements that could easily be patched in. Phenomenal game though.
sneaking into poacher and goblin camps and sam fishering everyone is a ton of fun. also the battle arenas are awesome
Just finished the first chapter (act? season? Whatever you call it). I find myself just flying around casting revelio and hunting for side-quests.
Completely agree that they spent way too much time hiding shit that needs revelio. Any time you have a mechanic that needs to be spammed every few steps, you have a poor mechanic. Then half the time you have no idea what you even found because its some tiny object on the floor above you hidden behind a door you can't access yet. Revelio needs two changes. 1) cast while walking 2) it only revealls stuff you can actually obtain at your current level. It's not like there are a few things you find that you need to remember to come back to. Every room has an item that can't be obtained until later in the game.
There are probably a hundred little QOL improvements that can be implemented either with a patch or in a sequel. It's a lot like Breath of the Wild in that respect, in that I can list a ton of little things I'd fix or change but I also loved every second I spent with it without any complaints.
I’m very early on still but I’d agree and I have to think they’ll continue to support the title. It seems to be less subject to scrutiny than I initially thought so the player base is huge. It has a world that fans won’t hesitate to come back to if they add DLC or live service elements. I’d be shocked if they haven’t come out with a roadmap for updates by the summer.
Oh absolutely. Its a fun as shit game and everything I wanted from an open world HP game. Some minor flaws keep it from being a truly great game, but it's still so much better than what was expected. No Quidditch does suck though.
I haven't finished the main story but I assume any future DLC would involve removing the person responsible for the lack of Quidditch. That's a also a pretty big game mechanic to include.
