So do you guys think theres a good chance HBO lights a fire under this guys ass to get the last books out before they get that far? At this rate they'll be out of material before the next book is even out. The truth of the matter is I just finished the 5th book and a 5-6 year wait is starting to sink in. I'm trying to be optimistic.
There was an article in Entertainment Weekly with GRRM when he said he should be able to keep pace since he has a 5 book head start. So it sounded like he wants to finish the books in time to coincide with the series. He also said that he wants to keep it at 7 books but said there's a chance he may have to add a book or two. He talked about his terrible writers block in doing ADWD so hopefully that has passed and he can do the last 2 books in 5-6 years total.
If I recall correctly, he's hoping that HBO greenlights Book 3 into 2 seasons, which would buy him more time. And considering the breadth of Book 3, I'm not sure he's wrong.
I don't think book 4 can carry its own season though. 7 seasons of a show is pretty ambitious as it is.
You could just as easily combine Books 4 and 5 together into a more linear story line and then break that out into 2 seasons. And yeah it's obviously a very ambitious project that I am not counting on it being completed by HBO
I doubt that illini. Season 2 will contain some of book 3. That's been stated. Season 3 will be the rest of book 3. Season 4 will contain some of book 5. and lol at anything or anyone lighting a fire under this guy's ass. He'll get to it when he gets to it. He won't even start on the book, well really start, for another year.
Another point that is a little ideal as well, but HBO said the following has been fantastic for the series so far, something they rarely see at such a fanatical level, and said they would continue to put out seasons as long as GRRM writes these books. Probably just catering to the fans, but I can be hopeful
He's far too rich to be persuaded by HBO offering him more money, in my humble vag. Not to mention that writing a book takes a lot more than the motivation cash provides.
The point is that he's doing fine, and even if he wasn't, it's really fucking hard writing a book. You won't get a quality product by pressuring the guy
