Without the TV show, I would not have heard of it. I may have seen the commercials, but would have tuned out so quickly bc I don’t play video games.
It was the first person I thought of way back after finishing the first game. Him and Maisie Williams at the time would have been perfect.
That's a good cast. Pumped for this show. Guess it's a good thing they can shoot Mando without him actually being there.
The little girl is very good His Dark Materials in a bit part. Tho His Dark Materials is so widely uneven. One scene is really good, and then I'm watching some exposition about why there are witches but also some fascists who are also the Catholic church on a parallel world but I have no clue what they believe only "Dust" is heretical. And Lin-Manuel Miranda is trying to play a Texan gunslinger.
Pascal absolutely fits the role imo. Brolin looks more like the character but I like Pascal better than him.
I don't think a lot of people would disagree but Brolin is a film actor, his TV work is almost entirely limited to when he was obviously supplementing his film work in his earlier years. The last 15 years of his TV filmography is two SNL appearances and a small amount of VA work. He's also just enormously big right now as an actor, luring him to TV would probably be prohibitively expensive and require a lot of finagling that nobody really wants to deal with for a series that will probably go about 25 episodes.
I feel like every actor these days is looking for a big time TV show to be apart of as much or more than are looking for a viable movie career, preferably both. HBO with the weight of a multi conglomerate behind them probably has enough dough to swing a big movie star in a show that is virtually a two-hander acting showcase anyway. But maybe they don't want to, maybe the producers just want to hire a hot actor that has more than enough ability to play the part. Your right though, Brolin fresh off Thanos and Marvel is gonna fetch a pretty penny. I'm glad to see Pascal blow up though, been toiling as a supporting actor for years. He deserves all these parts in big TV shows and films that he's getting lately.
Definitely not who I pictured in the role, but Pascal is a fantastic actor and I'm sure he'll kill it. Brolin was always who I thought of when I thought of Joel, but getting an A-list actor to commit to a multiple-season HBO show is probably pretty difficult. Figured Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be someone else they looked at (could be a great Tommy as well), but I'm excited to see what Pascal can do with it. Wonder if he'll try a Texas accent.
Stole this from Facebook but rumor on who is cast as Abby: Spoiler Spoiler yes I know the show is supposed to be based on the first game
just finished playing it and it was awesome just read through the thread and before i saw the news on the ellie casting, i had a sneaking suspicion that the ellen page recs probably wouldnt be the direction they go
Pedro is so good that I can’t imagine anyone will be let down by his performance in spite of any reservations you have currently. The dude is perfectly capable of looking close enough and managed to deeply emote without a face in The Mandalorian. Between that and Javier Peña, hard to not see him killing this role
If it’s HBO, it’ll be episodic and I don’t recall if they ever lead off with more than 1 episode for the premiere.
Yeah this will be one per week for 8 or 10 weeks whatever it is. This has a chance to be in their top tier of shows for 4-5 years at least, they aren’t selling it short.
