The joy on Greg's face when Tom told him he could be "the bottom of the top" and have his own Gregs was one of my favorite parts of the season. "Souls are boring. Boo, souls!"
I don't care what happens next season as long as we get more of the contessa, Ella Rumf. And Shiv was wearing the fuck out of that white dress.
Ken sitting in the gravel was improvised, and wasted 9 takes of the scene that had been previously filmed.
i feel like i should have seen that coming also aren't the roy kids shareholders in the company? it's not like they're getting nothing
Theoretically the shares are in some sort of trust from the mother as part of the divorce agreement which is now being changed to remove them.
I was under the impression they just changed the terms of the blocking rights for the kids. I figured Kendall was in no worse spot than before
This isn't remotely an area of expertise for me but if the supermajority thing was part of the divorce terms it makes sense that she could waive it. But I doubt they could just take the kids' stock away
Let me preface that I love the show but did Tom really have to warn Logan that they were coming? Wouldn't Logan already be aware of the super majority and change the terms of the divorce agreement well before they stampeded?
He could have assumed that he had sufficiently turned everyone against Kendall before Tom ratted I guess?
Assuming equal shares they each own about $2 bill, which now might be way more with the merger. Lets call it after tax $2 bill. I guess the whole point was these kids were all delusional enough to not realize their dad never saw them as capable enough to run the show and thought it would eventually be theirs and the power of that. Even Roman somehow missed that he balked as soon as Goju dude said Roman is running the family side.
I appreciate how the dividing line is the “self-made” (as much as anyone can be in that universe anyway) in Tom, Logan, Greg vs. the “entitled” in the kids. I think Logan respects Tom for “making his own pile”.
He respects power. Tom has made a lot of smart plays and I think Logan would respect him divorcing his daughter if it meant climbing the ladder more than hoping to work off whatever she can offer. I mean Tom is probably actually a very competent guy while Shiv is unskilled.
Inner family drama aside, am I the only one a little bit confused that Logan spent 2.5 seasons battling off takeover attempts only to sell on a whim? Seems a bit odd to me. Either way, Team Tom and Gregg
After shiv has treated Tom so disrespectfully…. I was fist bumping for Tom for dropping the big nuts. Curious to see how it changes the Tom / Shiv dynamic.
Yeah they kept saying their value was dropping so if he had sold in one of the previous deals he had to have been able to get more. They will just say he got a premium offer or he likes Matsson or whatever to make it sort of realistic but its not. Also annoyed they created this President storyline then dropped it completely. A bit messy of a season.
The show is doing itself a disservice by keeping the seasons short. They are creating more than enough compelling storylines to have 12 epsiode seasons.
Hearing it from someone like Mattson probably resonates quite a bit The funny thing is that Kendall was desperately trying to get Waystar into more tech stuff in s1, Logan wasn't really into it, and then they end up getting swallowed by some giant tech company
Shiv vs Tom could be a pretty funny storyline next season especially if Greg catches a stray every once and awhile from being too close to Tom.
I still can't get over the scene of the Vaulter employee spitting in Ken's face. You couldn't pay me enough money to have that done to me as an actor.
Tern Haven was an absolute masterpiece. Nan Pierce was my favorite side character last season. Just such a fake, smug, arrogant bitch. I loved how she called her it their "little house on the hill" and talked about the cocktail recipe from Teddy Roosevelt's valet. Then begs the help to come have a drink with them knowing full well she had no choice but to decline. I thought she shoved their old money WASP lineage right in the Roy's new money faces. It was wonderful.
I think the entire season was him slowly eliminating Shiv and Roman from ever inheriting the company. Once Roman sent that dick pic, Logan knew he had to sell.
I disagree. He never had any intention of letting any of his kids take over the company. He would just rotate stringing them along to suit his own personal goals.
Perhaps. We can agree to disagree. I think part of his rage at the end there was at himself for coming to the realization that he had failed as a father.
I don't think he gives a shit about being a failed father. He does not love his kids. All of them are terrible people and it makes the show great. The more I think about it - why did I root for the kids - I kept saying how can Logan deny them of what they deserve? None of them do.
Brian Cox said the first question he asked the showrunners when he was cast to play Logan was "does he love his kids?" and their answer was yes. just fwiw. not sure he cares about being a failed father, but thought I'd put that out there.
