Fuck yeah dude. Love me some Amon Amarth. Similarly I sometimes develop a hole that only Nile can fill.
oh god, Baroness' Blue Album is awesome and if you're going to throw in Ghost, In Solitude has to be in there too. they're similar enough that some people thought they were the same band, since Ghost goes on stage fully-costumed.
pretty sure i've posted them in this thread before, but Gwynbleidd is pretty cool. if you like earlier Opeth, they're worth giving a listen to. here's their shortest song just as a sample, because my favorites of theirs are like 10 mins long, and I hate listening to youtube quality for very long. http://youtu.be/kDAumzAPDuI
Anyone see this yet? 2 ex-playboy employees (or models..not sure) started a metal band.....not bad (music starts at 1:18) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YttVe6v31Yk
New Pig Destroyer record is coming out soon. Artwork for this band is always so creepy, I love it. They might be the heaviest band I can think of, truthfully. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=177872
Haven't been on my personal computer much so haven't had a chance to DL anything yet, but I have been listening to BTBAM a good bit streaming at work. I am digging them a lot at the moment
Periphery is more part of the djent scene that's been emerging lately, the guitarist Misha helped produce the first Animals As Leaders album. They have lots of clean vocals parts and just slower melodic songs. Tosin Abasi's old band This band to me plays just extremely well together, and they throw in some shredding on solos
Ok so to be honest I didn't know what BTBAM was but I did some googling and now I'm rocking out to metal I've never heard before (and I'm digging it). I love this thread
Should check out the Summer Slaughter Tour if it hasn't come to your area yet: Cannibal Corpse Between the Buried and Me The Faceless Periphery Veil of Maya Job For a Cowboy Goatwhore
One of the better newer metalcore bands I've heard, some of the heaviest breakdowns. One of the craziest screaming voices I've heard
Glad Amon Amarth is getting some love itt, I recently discovered* them. Spoiler *Got a battleaxe-esque boner for
Yeah, I saw that. I saw them open for Nile in 2008 and was front row. Wasn't ever really that into them, but that guy had a viscous howl and a commanding stage presence. RIP, sucks.
Beneath The Massacre is such a great band. They are flawless live, their drummer is unreal. It's ridiculous.
Ride to Atlanta with me in the future. Nile is playing TWO sets on their tour and are going to be in Atlanta on 4/4/13.
Anyone near Atlanta? Dethklok, All That Remains, and Machine Head coming to the Tabernacle on December 8.
Rollin' up and listening to BTBAM is one of my favorite hobbies. Are there any other bands that I would also enjoy doing this with?
Anything along the prog/tech (death) vein works well. Be'lakor, Necrophagist, Ørkenkjøtt, and anything else of that nature really.
Totally different than BTBAM but Electric Wizard is basically Black Sabbath reincarnated for the modern era and makes music designed for chiefing. This record is unbelievable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dopethrone I'd also check out Sleep's Dopesmoker record.
Would add Origin, Obscura, Nile, and Decrepit Birth to that list. Especially Decrepit Birth's Polarity record. Designed for chronic, case in point:
The last time I saw DB, Bill their vocalist walked on stage with his backpack and set it down right in front of the monitors. While the band was soundchecking, he pulled a pipe out of the backpack and chiefed it right before they started playing.
Remember when MTV played music videos? Apparently someone thinks that concept is still viable http://www.heavymetaltelevision.com/ (streaming online)
