Just really been loving this Old Nick shit lately, kind of reminds me of SIGH “Ghastly Funeral Theatre”/“Hail Horror Hail” in a way
Speaking of Japanese bands, has Sabbat released a 2022 album yet? They'll want to get to work if they are going to hit their standard 7 albums per year.
I like it much better than their album, which impressed me at first but didn’t have as much staying power as I would have thought. Good stuff!
Yes he absolutely is. Six Feet Under is basically a meme at this point. Corpsegrinder, Trevor Strnad, Chase Mason from Gatecreeper, and Alexander Jones, the vocalist from Undeath
This stellar collab is getting a re-release on Friday. Only limited to 30 but this is such a great album. I definitely recommend checking out REIGN in general; the opening to this album is ridiculous
Heads up, it’s Bandcamp Friday if you are interested. Bandcamp waives their revenue from purchases today, so that money goes directly to the artists. Since there aren’t many metal bands getting rich to begin with, if there’s some merch you’ve wanted to pick up today’s a good day to do it.
everyone raves about Blood Incantation, but I always thought Tomb Mold had the better blue / green death metal album from 2019 in Planetary Clairvoyance. these guys can write some utterly nasty riffs. just listen to the opening track on Manor of Infinite Forms. yeesh!
Agree. Planetary Clairvoyance one of my favorite albums. Love Tomb Mold. The track they released for Cyberpunk was pretty good too.
I don't understand everyones fascination with Blood Incantation. Tomb Mold has always been superior. Saw Blood Incantation a few years back, my buddy thought it was the greatest thing ever but he also likes Devin Townsend so his tastes can't be trusted.
New Crowbar song is heavy af. Video is the opposite of good. As a matter of fact just listen to the song with your eyes closed. Edit :
Hidden Histories is so good. imo, it’s more interesting than the sorta generic 20 Buck/DDR death metal sound tomb mold has
I know this isn't a thread that would likely be friendly to deathcore, but do we like Lorna Shore here? I feel like they're much better than your standard deathcore shit, and they weave in some pretty sick black metal stuff. Also, Will Ramos blows my mind vocally.
apparently someone has already uploaded the set list. seems correct. i didn’t realize they played so many songs but i was making out with a cute girl for 8-11
i have an odd relationship with the genre. i really, really love some of it really, really hate most of it. i think breakdowns are cheesy af and am generally underwhelmed by 4 minutes of tunnels....but.....the non standard deathcore bands can put out some really good stuff. big fan of shadow of intent, infant annihilator, and recent lorna. not of fan of whitechapel, slaughter to prevail, suicide silence, etc etc etc yes, will ramos has a stupid immense amount of talent and im tired of waiting on more stuff. shadow of intent just released a new album which i have been enjoying in the meantime.
Back around 2010, I got huge into deathcore. Like you mentioned though, I pretty quickly got extremely bored with the same exact thing over and over and completely abandoned the genre. I recently starting seeing Lorna Shore and Slaughter to Prevail popping up a lot of youtube, so I gave them a listen. I enjoy a couple StP songs, but they don't really grab me the way this Lorna EP does. I haven't really gone back any on Lorna's older stuff because, from what I've read, the previous guy was quite problematic.
the older stuff is definitely more standard, but theres a song or two. they only have one album with the problematic vocalist (Immortal, which is solid). everything before that was with the current chelsea grin vocalist. if you're looking for intriguing deathcore definitely look at that shadow of intent album. like how lorna trends symphonic black, they trend prog death. its a pretty interesting sound and ben duerr is ramos tier good.
it’s not a deathcore album, but I think Job For A Cowboy’s album Sun Eater is one of the best technical death metal albums I’ve ever heard. I listen to that album all the time. they used to be deathcore, I think. That’s about the extent of my contribution to the deathcore discussion, not really my thing.
Don't forget FDA Rekotz, my favorite label of the past decade. Plenty of generic death on that one. I think Blood Incantation use to be a DDR band, unless they licensed it from someone else, I remember picking up their first release and it being DDR on the back.
If you’re interested in proggy DM definitely check out Atheist “Piece of Time”, Gorguts “Obscura”, Nocturnus “Testimony of the Ancients”, Demilich “Nespithe”, Watchtower “Control and Resistance” for some of the progenitors or just older examples
The metal masses will say Unquestionable Presence is better but what do those losers know. While UP may not contain a single bad song Atheist's best songs are on Piece.
this is the way. i would also add: Cynic - Focus Timeghoul - Timeghoul Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris Degausser
Late to the party. I get into very few deathcore bands. I do adore bands like Shadow of Intent, new album was good stuff Spoiler Infant Annihilator Spoiler Early, early Whitechapel Spoiler Recent Lorna Shorne Spoiler: Hellfire vocal coach breakdown Neverbloom era Make Them Suffer Spoiler Early Thy Art is Murder Spoiler Dual vocalist band Angelmaker Spoiler Aversions Crown Spoiler Bands like Attila, Emmure, Veil of Maya, Suicide Silence, Slaughter, etc are no beuno. Every genre has some suck, but there's an abnormally high ratio of suck for deathcore. Same generic sounding crap featuring a broken record breakdown.
