this Ulcerate album is incredible. It rewards repeat listens. picks up where Stare Into Death left off and advances all facets. it sounds like being crushed under waves of a tsunami made out of black motor oil. completely dense and suffocating, but somehow accessible melodies and breakdown-y parts worm their way throughout the tracks that keep you coming back. Jamie St. Merat (drums) has to be one of the best musicians in metal right now. the drums on this fucking thing are mind blowing.
You two might want to retract those likes. Thou was life changing in that they showed me that I'm not always right, that I can in fact be wrong about something. I know it's hard to believe but I owe Electric Wizard an apology, they're not the worst band in the world.
Soooo what is Ice T's Body Count now? I guess he's gone full blown heavy. I follow him on twitter and he's currently in Denmark.
Saidan is definitely my AOTY at the midway point. Ulcerate is for sure in the running though. Lots of strong releases in the first half of the year.
the new 200 Stab Wounds is phenomenal you think this shit is going to be their regular meathead gory death metal, but they surprise you by letting the songs breathe with melodic solos and weird atmosphere. and man, the riffs! if you are turned off this kind of gore in your death metal (as i usually am), i would say look past that because the music on this release fucking rules. Spoiler: 200 SW - Manual Manic Procedures (NSFW cover)
also really enjoyed Hippotraktor - Stasis, which reminds me a bit of the Ocean with some (very slight) djent guitar influence.
some of my besties were very excited to see me perform. i got a great reception from the crowd there i’m not sure you’d be able to stand up straight in that basement.
While their tastes might be diverse their dance moves are identical. Not hating, just a little jealous my body doesn't bend like that.
New Wormwitch today they’ve never matched Heaven That Dwells Within for me but it’s still a solid record
I was going to see them with Lorna shore and mastodon in 2023 and I got sick the day of the show. I’m still mad about that
idk where else to put this but it's been a week and I cannot stop listening to AIC MTV Unplugged. Happens a couple times a year.
blackened to thrash to deathcore Started with Mars to Sirius after hearing Flying Whales. Good choice.
Album’s way better than great, much like Tool (up until 2 years ago), I'm sad I missed out on Gojira this long
Easily a top all time live band, my goodness. I'm sad I dismissed Gojira a decade ago. They're phenomenal, minus Fortitude - Mario gives Danny Carey a run for his money. Where to start with Opeth, Meshuggah and Mastodon? Maybe Ghost too?
Oxygen Destroyer - Guardian of the Universe relentless black / death / thrash about monsters smashing cities.
