Ok I normally share Haiduk recordings but this time it's something different: one-man death metal live 'Fire Wield'
here’s my top albums of this year 1. Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God (avante-garde death metal) 2. Shallow Waters - All Colours Blur to One (post-black metal) 3. Contention - Artillery from Heaven (hardcore) 4. Blaze of Perdition - Upharsin (black metal) 5. 200 Stab Wounds - Manual Manic Procedures (death metal) Spoiler Honorable mentions: Brodequin, Firtan, Spectral Wound, Tzompantli, Ripped to Shreds, Oxygen Destroyer, Gatecreeper, Firtan, Sidewinder, Maul, Pathway (Путь)
Saidan - Visual Kill is my tops. Contention, Borknagar, Dvne, Chapel of Disease round out the top five.
I don't listen like I used to but I think Anciients and Dodsrit were my favorites Celestial Tyrant prob my favorite song
Checked the ones I hadn’t heard from the HMs, really dig Firtan, not sure how that slipped past my radar
Yeah, really good. Hadnt heard of that band before this year and the promo photo with the sword sold me. I listened to the album before this and it was also good.
new Havukruunu coming 2025, this is the first single. spoiler: it fucking rules one of the best bands around
I saw Svart is doing pre sales, haven’t checked if there’s a U.S. distributor yet. But yeah I love that band, I can’t wait to see them at Maryland Deathfest next year
Fave Metal Albums of the Year: I hate I missed that but stoked to see the whole In the Nighside album
just discovered this band Lowen from the UK. it’s like progressive doom, I guess? almost like a faster paced Messa. lyrics in English and Farsi, themes seem like Middle Eastern (Persian) mysticism. it’s pretty epic.
Looking at the best of lists I either forgot or didn't know that Borknagar released an album at the beginning of the year. It's very good. I feel like I should like this band more but just never really went through their whole catalog
The Olden Domain is my favorite. saw them live a few years ago and the clean vocals from ICS Vortex and Lars Nedland were fantastic.
the historical Borknagar lineup is actually pretty wild. them and Arcturus. basically a who's who of famous Norwegian black metal musicians.
I loved Fall. Top five album this year for me. But it took some time, grew on me more and more as time went on. On first listen I just thought it was solid
The first two Khemmis albums are so good, especially Hunted. It's weird how music can take you back to specific points in time. I was making long drives at night listening to Hunted on cd over and over at the end of 2016/early 2017. I saw them at Ash Street Saloon around that time. The venue was slated to be closed and demo'd so it was dirty as fuck and I was 10 feet from the stage. They moved all their gear in and out by themselves from a shitty Ford econoline van. They were like 3rd on the card for Mykur so no one really cared about them, but I knew all the parts and they kept pointing at me. I prob looked like a dumbass in my oregon polo and nikes at the metal show. It fucking ripped
Just try to keep the forest fires on your side of the river this summer. That is if there's anything left to burn.
I thought about this. Is my memory accurate? I was drinking pretty heavily at the time The filthines of the venue is like seared into my memory
I don’t remember them pointing at you but I do remember them being their own road crew and I have loose memories of them being surprised anyone knew their stuff. That tracks with you singing along
