Went to Maryland Deathfest last weekend. Dragged into Sunlight was the best set I saw. Unfortunately I had to miss Wormrot Sunday night. Cool fest though. Hoping to go next year to see Havukruunu, who were supposed to be on the bill this year but backed out
How was the audio and overall production value? I've wanted to go forever but it being on Memorial Day kind of sucks for my schedule.
Pretty great, I was honestly surprised. Especially Nevermore Hall which is where I saw Dragged into Sunlight and a handful of other bands. It’s just a small section of downtown Baltimore so you have to find parking or walk from a hotel (that’s what I did) and there’s a couple security checks that are a little annoying since the fest is divided by a road but those are all pretty small things. I’d like to go again if the schedule allows. It’s definitely a different vibe from Bloodstock which I did last year, which is out in a big random field and you have tons of space. The bands are all extreme metal where Bloodstock you have a wider range of genres
I know I've said some pretty nasty things about River Of Nihil and I meant every word of it. That being said the new album isn't the worst thing I've heard.
This one has the guitarist from Black Crown Initiate, so that may be why it’s earning such high praise from you.
the first wave of bands for 2026 are already announced cephalotripsy, putridity, pathology, and emasculator alone have me wanting to go
New Between The Buried and Me coming out 9/12. Will be the first without their rhythm guitarist who was fired for allegedly being a sex pest.
Blackwater Park is a 10/10 album, goodness. obZen was good, though I enjoy Catch 33 more. I knew a good bit of obZen from random track listens throughout the years evidently. Will try Mastodon. Had a few gummies last night and listened to BWP and Still Life. Wish I gave Opeth a go well sooner.
Ghost Reveries is probably the conventional next pick for Opeth. I personally lean My Arms Your Hearse but you’re really splitting hairs with those first nine records. For Mastodon I lean Crack the Skye but same situation, Leviathan is usually the other album people pick for that band.
dove into Dimmu Borgir. Early stuff is good. album ranking for me: Enthrone Darkness Triumphant Stormblast/Death Cult Armageddon Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia Spiritual Black Dimensions In Sorte Diaboli
This blows. Brent trashing Mastodon. “I want [sic] miss being in a shit band with horrible humans.” https://www.metalsucks.net/2025/06/...with-horrible-humans-following-mastodon-exit/
Dude seems like he has issues tbh. Probably best for everyone he’s split. He seems to have immediately hit the road touring with his own stuff
this one rips. not a true skip song. did what elegy meant to do but better. edit after multiple listens: it's good, though not reclaimer or melancholy edit edit some fine highs on the album, facets imperium fly prepare edit edit edit its really good
I've been tired of Ozzy for a long time tbh. Black Sabbath will always be the shit but that's at least as much because of Tony Iommi
After signing the bombs that almost certainly killed children, he then said this: https://parade.com/news/hard-rock-s...-following-controversial-festival-performance shitty music, shitty person
JFC can we not shit on Ozzy’s final thing ever? Regardless of Zakk being a shit person. Travis Barker can absolutely shred on metal drums too. You think Danny fucking Carey would be cool with that if Travis didn’t shred?
I don’t care much for Skeleta, but Ghost was made for big production arena shows. Tonight was by far the best all around concert I’ve seen from that band.
