The drummer of that band is apparently now Ben Koller, who plays for Mutoid Man and Converge

I can't really get into Converge, but the Mutoid Man album from like last year was great

 

I'd take Soundgarden over Lamb of God.

 

I probably would too, but Chris Cornell is in his 50s

I think Soundgarden "unfortunately" came up with those other grunge bands and got that tag, even though they're a lot better than that. Even Badmotorfinger is basically a metal album.

 

It's more anti-LOG than it is me being pro-Soundgarden. But I do enjoy me quite a bit of Soundgarden.

 

Alternate history: imagine that Soundgarden became the big 90s metal band instead of Pantera

There would be so many more dope prog metal bands today... maybe

 

But Down 'Nola' may not have happened. Pass.

 

The first Ensiferum albums are fantastic, as is the first Wintersun album. I thought Time and the last 2-3 Ensiferum records were not good at all though.

 

I can't fuck with any LOG records after Ashes. Everything before that is awesome but after that it's too Pantera.

 

I would start out with the Axe To Fall and All We Love We Leave Behind albums. They are the most accessible and catchiest.

Aimless Arrow is probably their most accessible track, and it's great.

They are fantastic musicians and play incredibly heavy music.

Haven't read the thread so sorry if already posted, but any of you guys getting into Dopelord? It's a similar vibe as The Sword, but tuned down significantly

 

Time didn't do it for me. Won't be getting this one. He does have a dedicated fan base tho.

Reminds me of the vibe of Warp Riders, but like I said, tuned way down. It's less metal and more stoner rock, but figured this would be a good thread to share.

Speaking of 'core, Darkest Hour has a new album out next week. Also playing in Portland in a few days.

 

These Aussies are getting some good reviews, stoner rock w/doom elements.

 

Drove by the Hawthorne Theater earlier. Max and Igor Cavelara are playing there tonight. The people standing outside before the show appeared to be even dirtier than the ones near me at the Opeth concert.

 

Can't wait. Love darkest hour. Clips from the new album sound great.

For only having two songs released in their entire discography these guys are batting 1.000

 

they went a little too far with the cookie monster vocal enhancements on this album but this song is still cool

Svart Crown is a criminally underrated band. I love their new album, Abreaction.
Also, Immolation and Sinister

 

I downloaded the SC just haven't got around to listening to it.

 

Darkest Hour stuck in snow somewhere so Portland show was canceled. FUCK

 

That sucks, those new tracks sound like they would rip live.
