interesting. i thought the keyboard player (air) was the father of some other member also alpha* -> guy with white guitar ether/omega -> guy with black guitar earth -> drummer air -> keyboard water -> bass
somehow i stumbled onto them/him about 10 years ago when i was looking for bands that sounded like Tool
This is my buddy's band. They released their first song. Opinions? https://drood.bandcamp.com/releases
Not bad at all, most of it is enjoyable. Vocals are a bit iffy on occasion, but I think they'd be really good with the right guy turning knobs. I would drop the harsh vocals, or at least change them, most progressive rock guys don't like them anyway. I instantly thought it was gonna turn nu-metally when they hit.
I liked the harsh vox, they were just used in really weird spots and not often enough to justify their inclusion.
i was tired from doing school stuff all day. it would have been mostly about showing up for my friends than being into that band's music, which reminds me of a generic cross between cloudkicker/mandroid echostar/coheed and cambria, with panic at the disco vocals.
I'm seeing Elder next week, with Intronaut opening. I may be missing something but Intronaut seems like... a really bad imitation of Isis Recommend me good Intronaut songs
mastodon is playing in portland tonight. i saw a ticket for $50 on craigslist. tempting. this is the setlist http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/mastodon/2017/paramount-theatre-seattle-wa-7be6de34.html
the time i saw them a few years ago was great. it was like a month before once more round the sun came out, so they only played 2 songs from it. lots of blood mountain and leviathan. i'm mainly tempted because even if i'm kind of meh about their album, as far as their playing goes they're probably the best band i've seen.
Concert calendar is really bleak, I only see one show I'd bother with and I'm lukewarm on it (MA/Suffo/Revo).
revo as in revocation? i don't see a portland date for them... or even a seattle date mutoid man will be at the hawthorne in july but i don't know if they do anything for you (plus the venue smells like dampness and sounds like a wall of bass imo)
That's odd, now the only question is has the band not updated their shit or the concert calendar site. They are on the flyer with the Sea-Port dates.
maybe you are so far ahead of the curve that the band doesn't even know that they are playing in portland also revocation's logo is completely unreadable if you aren't looking for "revocation," and i appreciate that
oh god damn it, the Elder show sold out there are 5 tickets on stubhub for $60 apiece though. i think they were like $20 online. the type of person who does that can eat shit
I remember liking what I heard from them a year or two back, but I also remember wishing they had a vocalist.
Two weeks in a row of concerts for me. Last week was Prong, Sepultura and Testament. This week, Amorphis with Swallow the Sun. Some solid shows.
My buddy wants me to go see the T.S.P. show but I'm still sour on Sepultura. Plus they haven't released anything good since early 90's. Prong has two good albums, but I can't justify sitting through those two bands for Testament.
Actually Prong was really good, I like their recent material well enough even if it's not something I would listen to more than once. Sepultura is the leftovers from the original band at this point but at least they played a couple of their old songs. I mean, as someone who goes to venues where they seem to tack on local bands as openers for every concert I don't need to love a band to watch them perform a set. Just hang out, drink and pretend it's background noise if its really not your thing.
I have played two total matches of whichever version made its way to the 360. I do not enjoy competitive shooters that stick to the one life per round model. Overwatch's hybrid fps/moba system is much better.
