i love that black n' roll style. plus as corny as it is, i love that the album is called Arctic Thunder. ARCTIC THUNDER i also love that tremolo picking
i bet even burnttatertot air guitars to himself when he hears riffs like that, in between his weekly obscure death metal deliveries
I would really like to thank Joe_Pesci and others in this thread for their music recommendations and posts. I have really gotten into the following bands based on this thread: Slugdge Elder Khemmis Pallbearer Vektor Mutoid Man And probably quite a few others that I can’t think of offhand. The new Slugdge album is fucking amazing.
What's up dudes. Ive been on this site since it started, off and on. Mostly been a lurker when I even check the site, 35 with a job now fuck time passes quickly, but I check this thread regulrary for new bands and appreciate it. I use to talk a lot with Trappist Nights, I guess he's Wiemer Beer Belly or something now...? I also used to talk to some dude from Gainsville, I cant remember his name but he knew all about the Florida punk/metal sccene. Assohole Parade, Patatka, Combat Wounded Veteran, etc. These guys are kinda emo but I can dig it. Ive been rocking their stuff lately. They have catchy riffs. Hiopefully this posts correctly or I might need a tutorial. I haven't tried to post shit in years and all my old stuff was lost in the crash.
These guys were probably my biggest influence getting away from playing pop punk stuff to heavy faster stuff. We got a chance to play a show with them a couple times and they were awesome. Sadly one of the members died just recently. Some of the members always had drug problems, they sing about it in some of their songs. If I had to put two and two together that would be my guess on what happened to ol boy. Sucks. They passed out on my couch and we cooked food for them and had a great time a few years ago. I feel like I'm talking to myself here... Nothing fancy but I have some youtube videos from a few of my old bands if anyone cares to hear.
Page three? Jesus christ you guys, plenty of new releases to be discussing. Or you can talk about those weird ass new Ghost youtubes. Didn't think anything could make me hate this band any more than I already do, but I was wrong. Gimmicky shit.
I hope they don't ditch the pope look, though because it's cool when Papa comes out in the full pope gear live
Been on a black metal kick lately, not sure what spurred it. Been 20+ years since I listened to some of these albums.
Me too. Pretty much all I’ve been listening to over the last 3 months. Lot of talented bands making music now. Check out Mgla’s With Hearts Towards None.
Nope. Mayhem "De..", Satyricon "Nemesis...", first three Ulvers, Dimmu "Enthrone", first two Emperors, Enslaved and first two Borknagar's.
Dimmu is kind of silly at this point but Enthrone is one of those albums that I enjoy more and more with age
of all the classic albums from that time, Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk and At The Heart Of Winter still get tons of play from me. amazing work.
Alright sorry for blowing up the spot. I feel like when you have that dream of showing up naked at school posting this stuff but anyway here are some youtube clips of my old bands. We were always DIY kids and I guess were just too lazy to put out records but we played a bunch of shows and booked a bunch of awesome bands in Norman, OKC and Tulsa for like 10-15 years maybe. Hopefully we can get going again even though we're all oldish with kids and stuff but whatever.
what instrument did you play? thanks for sharing - good stuff. most of the punk-related music I listen to is of the d-beat variety these days, like Disfear and Martyrdod.
This one is from when we were real young. Some ska thrash type thing. IDK. Beware it's possiblly NSFW. I think all you can see is our giant Native American bass players ass but still though. He had a tendency to just get naked at shows. Don't ask me. I always thought it was weird.
Yeah thanks.I play guitar and screamed around on the mic from time to time. Some more in different bands but always some. Our most recent band, UDC was mostly d-beat stuff with a few blast beats thrown in. I fucking love Martydod and Disfear.Wolfbrigade is pretty badass too. Have you ever heard Sayyadina? (not sure if I spelled that right)
Blackened Crusty suff that I always come back to from time to time. Sayyadina has a lot more grind influence these days which is not a bad thing in my mind. [
Shit you beat me to the punch. I didnt see your post. It is kind of "post black metal" but whatever. who cares. I dig this song.
This first band we are are still good friends to this day. We almost did a a southwest/Cali tour with them but I was in college and our drummer just had a kid so that was a no go. We booked these guys a couple times and they were super nice.. Put on a hell of a show too.
I haven’t, but it’s not my genre forte. I’ll definitely check them out if they sound like those Scandinavian d-beat bands.
This is NOT my favorite metal song, but damn it's close....and I don't even really care for this type of metal. One of the greatest of ALL TIME (listen to the WHOLE DAMN SONG, then listen to it again)
I’m always down for some Blind Gaurdian. They’re cheesy but classic and they write good catchy songs.
Agreed, 100%. One of the best metal bands, and I don’t even like power metal. This is definitely in my top ten albums. Mirror, Mirror and Nightfall get a lot of love, but A Dark Passage and Blood Tears are really great tracks that don’t get mentioned much.
you guys should check out Necrophobic’s album from this year, Mark Of The Necrogram. Really good black/death metal.
^ I can dig it. I’ve kind of been on a grind thing recently. These guys didn’t put out anything for like 12 years or something and then out of nowhere they dropped this album a couple years ago. Fucking badass IMO.
