Agree. They definitely catch shit cuz of the way they dress. I think they also catch shit because of the shoe gaze parts. Which is fucking dumb. I'm a fan.
Hey Joe I didn’t mean any offense. I’m down for all kinds of metal and like most of what you post. I didn’t even really dislike the song the video just seemed overproduced and cheesy.
I probably never would have heard In Solitude if I didn’t check this thread and I’m fairly sure you posted that. A little on the goth side but it’s in my regular rotation. I hope we can still be friends you seem like a solid poster, not like I’m one to judge. I didn’t post at all for years.
I discovered Thy Catafalque this week. Super weird, avante-garde metal with roots in black metal, and some songs that sound like 90s death metal. Haven’t heard anything like them before. Wild stuff, enjoying it.
Newish Dopethrone and Eagle Twin albums are in the weekend must do list for me. I haven’t had much listening time lately.
Deafheaven is hipster metal because literally hipsters listen to it. It oddly got really mainstream when sunbather was released with people mentioning it that would never listen to metal much less black metal.
I know, I know. I'm very late to the party. I just heard them for the first time when my workout play list ended and spotify just picks songs it thinks you'll like.
They've had three lead vocalists, two of which were female. The current singer is dating Doyle from the Misfits. #metalgossip Angela Gossow (2000-2014) Alissa White-Gluz (2014-present)
I’ve been crying around in another thread and need to get back to talking about music. These guys are weird as hell. Crust with a ska influence. I like it though, granted my band did similar stuff in the past so maybe it just struck a note. They sound like Choking Victim on crack except I’m pretty sure Choking Victim was literally on crack.
Sleep released a new record today. https://www.npr.org/sections/allson...-new-album-the-sciences-on-the-stoner-holiday
More old DIY shit. Sometimes i struggle with deciding to post stuff in the punk thread or here but I don’t think most of them think of punk the same way I do. I feel much more at home here.
Pretty Little Flower. We played a couple shows with them. We played with Phobia once. Friendly guys. Good grind.
ok this rules. it reminds me a bit of Undying, which was black metal influenced metalcore from the early 2000s. big fan, thanks for sharing. i see these guys have a new album out this year.
Yeah I thought about posting it but I haven't listened to the whole thing yet and I was more familiar with these albums.
Really good d-beat stuff. The album cover looks a little nazi but if you read their lyrics they’re clearly anti fascist, but anyway I’m not trying to bring politics into this thread. I avoid the political threads like the plague regardless of my views. Just wanted to say I don’t support nazi/fascist themed music.
i'm guessing someone posted this already because the video has 100k views but gat damn the album art is awesome too
i was looking at their merch site for a shirt because i love that album cover. well they do have a shirt with it on it, but it has this bullshit on the back why do bands do this? sticking lyrics on shirts is super lame and tons do it. i want the art and/or the band logo only.
I agree. The art was cool. I would feel like a dork wearing that shirt though. Maybe if I was 13 years old I’d rock it.
I haven't had jury duty since my 20's but I would wear Rotting Christ and Marduk (Fuck Me Jesus) shirts to increase my chances of not getting picked.
My favorite metal shirt of all time is Sentenced Amok longsleeve but that's not getting me out of shit.
If you don't get your shit together you're gonna be living under one of the overpasses like the rest of Portland.
Damn you do Sunday brunch. That sounds good. I’m usually just lazy and trying to avoid Monday work on Sundays. You’re making me hungry.
