A friends band so I felt I should plug it in here to give them more exposure. I don't usually listen to a lot of doom and I'm not sure how active they are anymore. I did see them play about a year ago, they're pretty good and put on a good show.
These guys, in my view, are the best modern thrash band. Power Trip gets a lot of love, but for my money, I prefer Black Fast.
Cool stuff. I still have to vote for Vektor as my favorite current thrash band. Just random shit. I had no idea these guys were even still making music.
Still listening to that Inferi album. Moments like this guitar solo are why I slog through however much metal that I do. I'm not exactly sure who it reminds me of... tech-death John Petrucci maybe?
Recharging the Void I've probably listened to Terminal Redux a hundred times since I first heard Pillars of Sand like 2 years ago
Trevor from The Black Dahlia Murder does this column for Metal Injection monthly. Tends to cover a nice spectrum extreme bands. http://www.metalinjection.net/edito...els-of-musical-mutton-for-the-curious-macabre The songs from HETERADELPHY, IMMENSE, POSTHUMAN ABOMINATION, and TOMB MOLD all stood out to me from that list. While all that stuff is pretty brutal, the last band on the page, VOICES might appeal to the more eclectic taste of this thread.
His taste is pretty one dimensional these days. Almost exclusively seems to listen to brutal slamming death metal, which is cool but not so much variety.
New Dimmu Borgir, sounds like Dimmu Borgir: New Skinless. I'm listening through it but not sold on it so far. Their 2015 release didn't make much of an impression with me either.
You guys should check out that implore album it’s pretty badass imo. Ive had it on blast mode while I’m cooking food.
This stuff is pretty cool. I posted one of their songs a while back. This video shows a bunch of live footage from crusty ass venues. I used to jam their albums all the time back in the day. I think they only put out a couple, maybe a 7”. It’s cool that the drummer is the main vocalist. I’d have a coranary. Well and I can’t play the drums.
Sweet. I just wanted to get the right one. Your recommendations are usually spot on (you and Heavy Mental)
yes Black Fast rules. that blend of the tremolo-picked riffs and the thrash riffs makes me feel a certain way
I know a lot of this isn’t heavy but it fits here. I need some mellow stuff every once in a while. Especially when I’m at work.
Nice. I'll have to check out some more. I listened to one of their songs and it was good. I'll have to check out more. I like that celtic, pagan, scandanavian sound when I'm not trying to rock out.
Kind of a slow day at work. I'm pulling up all kinds of random shit on youtube. Haven't listened to this in years but it's still classic.
just got tickets to see Batushka live. they're one of my favorite acts of the last few years. i didn't think i'd ever get to see them because they haven't been in the at all up to this point. can't wait.
Right on. I just briefly watched the video while at work. I’ll definitely check out some more when I have time.
I have Moonsorrow saved on my Spotify. I think I even have a handful of their CDs at the house. I don't think I've heard Nokturnal Motrum. I'll have to check it out.
After listening to manegarm and moonsorrow earlier I got on a Nordic folk metal kick, these guys are German... I haven’t listened to them in quite a while but I’ve always liked them.
Damn Heavy Mental it seems like we have similar taste in music. I mean I already knew that but still.
