The GF is moving out of town, and I have a lot of time on my hands all of the sudden. Decided to purchase a gaming system. Have a Wii, but want to be lazy and play video games the old fashioned way. The last system I had was a PS2, so its been a while.

Xbox or PS3? I probably will mainly play sports and a few shooters. Also will prob want to play online against friends and some of you. I really liked SoCom back in the day. Also, What is the difference between a 4Gb and 300gb system Ive seen out there. Why do you need so much space?

    Thanks for your help!

I would say if you want to game with friends then see which system most of them have then go with that. TMB has a good core of guys to play with on both the 360 and the PS3, so you won't be disappointed on your choice there. 360 games are always updating and games run twice as well with less lag and frame rate drops if you install them on your hard drive. IF you get a 360 or PS3 definitely get the extra GB space plus some of the xbox live/ PSN downloadable games are well worth downloading, and with the updates a 4gb hard drive just won't cut it.

You said you like shooters so I will post the PS3 and 360 exclusives to help your decision.

    PS3-
First Person Shooters: Resistance series and Kill Zone series,
3rd Person: Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Socom 4, Infamous, Heavy Rain
Other good titles: Twisted Metal, God of War series, Little Big Planet series, Demon Souls

    360-
FPS-Halo series, Rise of Nightmares (Very unique Kinect only game definitely worth playing)
3rd person- Gears of War series, Crack Down series
Other good titles: Forza racing, Fable series,

Most really good shooters are released for both consoles now a days: Far Cry series, Bioshock series, Borderlands series, Fear series, COD, Medal of Honor ect

Also are you looking to pay to play online or being a casual gamer? With the 360 you have to pay $60 a year to play online but you are paying for your experience. PS3 is free to play online; some say it's worse but I rarely notice a difference, plus I have a hard time complaining about something that's free.

With the PS3, you're getting more bang for your buck. It's a blu ray disc player, has a fully functional web browser (browse TMB on your TV) Netflix and anything with a USB port can plug in and save straight to your ps3 (movies, music, pics). You have an HDtv, buy an hdmi cord and stream everything in 720p, 1080p or 1080i.

As far as the gb sizes, a 360 starts you off with 4gb for $199 but you'll fill that up quick if your playing online so $299 250 gb is best. With the PS3, they start out $249 for a 160 gb. That's the one I have and I've used about 50 gb for music and another 20 gb for games.

lol no. The PS3 browser can't run very many plugins. You'll be fine browsing TMB but loading videos is incredibly hit or miss.
4 GB isn't near enough on the 360. Now if you feel like partitioning a flash drive or external HD, I believe they allow 16 GB from any particular device.
The 160 GB PS3 is more than enough.

Don't question me, besides you haven't logged on to PSN in months. I think I deleted you because of that.

Wrong. Been online probably 10 days this month. I just haven't gotten a new game recently, so I logged on to play Castle Crashers and Uncharted 3.

Waiting on price drops on a few things:
    Motorstorm Apocalypse
    Twisted Metal
    Sorcery
    Starhawk

    Next release:
probably Amazing Spider-man (holding out hope for 3D on this one... there's some sort of Playstation Move support, so I may be intrigued by this)

Thanks Fellas! I don't see myself being a hardcore gamer, or using it for anything besides video games, but maybe not. I think the blu ray and free online pushes PS3 into the winner's circle.
