I’m sure this will be outstanding
I keep coming back to Deante Hitchcock’s album BETTER. Really underrated album. Real enjoyable listen
It’s such a good vibe. Cole is doing a phenomenal job of identifying these talented southern rappers that fit his vision
Anybody read any good hip hop related books? Reading this right now and it's really good
I wish we could find a way to share music. if not a playlist (spotify vs apple problmes) how about a google sheet?
I like it.
Hello friends. In an effort to break myself of my biases I will be using today as an opportunity to try and better appreciate mumble rap. I imagine it’s gonna take the artistic peak of the genre to even have a chance at converting me so I’d like some recommendations. You have my word that I will not be judgmental or trash your suggestions. I truly want to try and enjoy.
I have a podcast that I’ve been working on and I’d like to be able to discuss current music without coming off like a gigantic cunt. Thank you and roll tide.
maybe drop a few of the pills they brag about to put you in their zone
My friend who I’m doing my podcast with is a local rapper and in our upcoming episode we are doing a top 5 albums so far 2020. He’s 34 so he’s basically my age. I asked that we go ahead and swap lists so we can make sure we have discussion points wrt each other’s list. He has lil baby and future on his which surprised and saddened me at the same time. I also realize that no one is gonna want to listen to me be miserable so I need to force myself to try and find some level of appreciation
It took me listening to guys like future/thug/lil baby a few times over for my mind to really catch what they are saying. Now I currently enjoy all of that kind of music. To me they have good beats and are fun.
The fact this version isn’t on Apple Music is pissing me tf off
I tried to listen to mumble rap this morning then I got sidetracked with some good hip hop and couldn’t go back :( I tried
You dont have to enjoy future, gunna, baby, etc.i feel the same way bout eminem most of the last decade
I feel the same about Eminem most of my life
It's debatable whether or not he's a true mumble rapper, but Ski Mask the Slump God is at the very least mumble rap adjacent if he isn't. He has some weird humor in his songs that doesn't always connect, but when it does, I find it enjoyable enough.
This one is probably not a popular opinion, and I haven't liked anything else YNW Melly has put out, but I legitimately think this is one of the best hit rap songs from last year.
Benny is so fuckin clean, mannn
IDK and friends has some big features
that earl sweatshirt needed a deluxe version that has less songs
went back and caught up on some westside gunn the other day. I'm a fan
Keep it moving, friend
I've enjoyed the IDK and G-Eazy projects today. G-Eazy came with a complete new sound. Not really rap at all but I was impressed. Probably not for everyone though. The IDK tape thumps though
Now it is time for 6lack
6LACK can’t miss.
Giving it the G-Eazy a listen and it sounds like a response to Halsey’s last album.
Cudi and Kanye voicing some cartoon characters?
Was there a reason 6lack wasn't on Bears...Too Much?
Am I bad person for not being absolutely in love with KSG?
i wasnt crazy bout kids see ghosts
I wasn't a big fan of it either but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in some trippy looking cartoon in which Kanye does voice acting work for. That seems so out of character for him
it’s not that I don’t like it but I do not see it as the masterwork so many do. Gimme Daytona out of the Wyoming sessions a hundred times out of a hundred
What did you think about Ye? I thought it was his worst album along with JIK. Ye was just such a forgettable album
Not a fan of Ye at all, def his worst.(never heard jik) I feel like Pablo is a strange ride because there’s some things about that Album does sonically that are fucking amazing and ultralight beam is a hell of a song but lyrically the album is elementary asf. His first two albums and MBDTF are what make Kanye for me
The further away I get from MBDTF the less impressive I find it. It’s got big flaws but it’s still enjoyable
his first two albums are so fucking good that everything just has been meh a letdown
Conway says he’s dropping FKTAG tonight
Give an old head a rundown of must listen to JID. (Beyond DiCaprio 2). I’ve heard some of his stuff but never went beyond that.
The never story is dope as well and he’s featured heavily on the prior spillage village bears albums. He’s brutalizing features right now and there isn’t even whispers of a project.
I really wish Mac were still here because I think that the musical environment he provided for JID would work out much better for his solo work than this collective angle dreamville is going with. I like what dreamville has got but I just feel like Mac would have JID around different guys who fit his vibe.
if you dig JID deante hitchcocks album BETTER is pretty good nourishment.
Earthgang and JID
Earthgang and Isiah Rashad
