Freddie going after Akademics. I don’t understand how anyone supports Ak and how 69 got out of jail and was able to go right back to the lime light.
its not just the fact that Freddie has this dude so heated it’s also like at least a thousand hilarious tweets in the comments aimed at Akademiks.
As much as I’ve come to detest melon he makes a solid point wrt how much money Freddie has potentially made. That being said, the entire fallout between Gibbs and Jeezy was as rooted in the idea that Jeezy wanted to push Gibbs in a direction he didn’t want his career to go in. Freddie wasn’t about selling out his vision and that’s worth all the blogger money in the world.
I mean, cmon man this is fucking beautiful shit to read. When you add the DJ you respect then it’s just art.
Are you guys familiar with Stove God Cooks? his album reasonable drought from March is really good. Produced by Roc Marciano. It’s a dope throwback to the coke era and he’s got a pretty cool cadence/delivery. Give him a try if you’re into that shit
Ws in the chat. Freddie Gibbs simultaneously helping to keep hip hop alive while participating in the murder of one of the biggest violators the culture has ever known. Living legend
Idk if I’m expecting much from this WSG album tonight but I hope I’m surprised. I REALLY wish Benny would drop a solo album
Lol no. These guys have been putting out excellent projects one after another for like 5 years now. I’m sure it’ll be fine I’m just not as excited for it as I would be a Benny or Conway release. Conway isn’t even gonna feature on the album. I also still VERY regularly listen to P4P and hope that I’m not burned on WSG. I am looking forward to Stove Gods features tho because I’ve recently become a big fan of his.
I’ll be honest I really need something conscience or fun to drop rn. Spill Vill would be food for the soul. I love the grimy beats/soul samples and luxury coke raps that have come outta the first half of the year but I could really use JID or Anderson Paak right about now.
First reaction: P4P might be a better overall album, but this is still great. A few tracks didn’t hit for me, but the sustained quality from WSG is crazy. Top songs in my mind: Michael Irvin, One More Hit, Lil Cease, Buffs vs Wires, and Drive By Love. Bubba Chuck was great lyrically from both WSG and Stove, but that sounded like a throwaway beat (used too little of the sample for a nearly 4 min song).
It’s the growth from album to album that amazes me. Their discography is insane. SPCM-9.5 ATL- 10 AQM- 13 STNK- 9.5 SB/LB- 9 Idlewild doesn’t count
Just looking back I'm amazed that each album has multiple hits. SPCM is probably my favorite. Just so many good songs for a debut album
