Ehh i like it and I’m definitely not a huge posty fan. It’s like lifestyle rap meets sugary pop. He’s got an ear for hooks. His lyrics are horrible but the songs sound pretty great. Good shit to just tune out and ride to imo.
The new Royce Da 5’9” album is awesome. It’s called The Book of Ryan and on Spotify for those interested. This song has a cool as fuck throwback vibe and a pretty spectacular appearance by Eminem. Basically the album is what I hoped “Adult Rap” would be like. KOD is awesome but I keep finding myself listening to the Book of Ryan more for some reason.
I'll second that the Royce album is great. I really enjoyed it a lot. I surprisingly have also caught myself really liking the new wale ep that's out called self promotion.
Tee Grizzly dropped his album called activated. I haven't had a chance to listen to it but heard good things. A good bit of features on it as well. Rae Sremmurd released three albums in one. I've tried listening once but there is just too much for me to figure out what I'm looking and not looking. Swaecation send to be the best part of the three albums though.
We are same. Also there’s a bonus track version of the caterpillar on that album featuring Logic. It’s also good
New Pusha T album dropping Friday. I, too, am a fan of the Post Malone album, but completely understand why some don't/won't
Ehh I like Drake fine but that track sounds like elevator music and outside of going at Push’s girl it’s a bunch of hollow disses. First 30 seconds raggin on Ye for ghostwriting when that shit ain’t a secret and no one holds Ye to the rapper standard they do Push and Drake. Who cares Drake going at Push’s history in the coke game has always felt awkward to me because Drake isn’t a tough guy by any means. There’s some clever lines but the track isn’t hot. I do respect the timing tho
it isn’t meant to be “hot”. It’s a response to Push saying he doesn’t write. And there’s way more than falling ye a ghost writer. Like Pusha. Doesn’t mean he didn’t just take one on the chin.
Back to Back was one of the greatest diss tracks ever but Charged Up was lame. Just because it’s a response to whatever doesn’t make it dope. And once again, I really can’t feel Jimmy going at Push’s coke history. Infrared ends with Push basically saying let’s get it so I’m excited to see where this goes. Both of these guys are very capable
Agreed they're both capable. But I don't understand how you can be such a fan of back to back, and then question if Drake can question Pusha's coke history. Because, if true, there is no coke history....what's it matter who says it? I hope Push responds. Would be fun to have some back and forth. But disagree with you're assertion that there's nothing to the track as a whole
I mean he says on the track that he was selling coke. He just questions how large his role was. Back to Back was just a great song with clever disses that all felt right. Im not saying there’s nothing here, just nothing special. But if you like it, it really doesn’t matter what I think
I agree completely on back to back. I like it in the sense of him responding quick and with substance. Beat is blah
Not a huge Drake fan but I tip my cap for going at Pusha and Kanye, especially with the timing. As a shoe nerd, the line about Virgil... sheesh. Going to be awkward for Adidas too.
God I missed this all yesterday. Every part of Drakes response was a shot back. Saying how can Pusha be critical of him using a Ghost Writer when his own boss does. To the Virgil line. To making Quentin money when he was working at Kroegers lol. Then the Virginia Williams line. This is not going to be a hit like Back 2 Back but it was a perfect response track right away.
And how many diss songs at Drake are we going to hear that say the same thing? Blah blah blah Quentin Miller blah blah blah
I don't follow the new hip hop near as much as I did when I was younger. I feel like my internal jukebox filled up in the mid 2000s. So maybe I'm off in saying this, and I wouldn't consider myself a Drake fan, but I always respected that Drake never claimed to be something he wasn't. In an industry where everyone wants street cred, I dont remember him ever trying to be hard. So many guys rap about shit they did when they are almost always exaggerating it. As for ghosting, whatever. Everyone uses them. DOC wrote so much stuff for NWA, Dre, Snoop, etc and nobody bashes them for it. Why bash Drake for working with someone? Makes no sense and just seems weak to go at that.
Because Dre never propped himself up as a rapper. Snoop idk about but no one ever put Dre or Dre never put himself in the discussion as the greatest out. Drake does that regularly so people give him a hard time
I mean Dre was the hottest rapper on the planet when The Chronic dropped. Hell Kanye has a whole team helping him write. Its just weird to see people go at Drake about it. Like I said earlier, I'm not well as versed in new music as I am old, but it just seems like some dont like Drake bc he's kinda corny and never tried to play the hard guy so they want to go at him and dont really have anything so they go to that.
There’s a difference between being a hot rapper like Dre and Kanye etc and being a rapper who people discuss as one of the better rhymes lyricist like Drake, Push, Kenny, Nas, Hov. Drake likes to tow the line between both categories so he gets a lot of scrutiny
Hov and Nas have both been accused of using ghostwriters. No clue what the truth is there or if it was more of a co-writing deal but I just dont see a big deal with someone collabing on lyrics for a song. Its as old as hip hop itself. Hell even the goat, Pac, had one. Trapped was written by someone else iirc. And if you say Pac wasnt a great rapper we can meet at the Publix parking lot of your choice.
Nas and Hov have never been accused of using ghost writers to my knowledge. Pac wasn’t a great lyricist

Stop. Dre was never positioned as any kind of great MC. He was regarded as one of the best producers in the game and then used that skill to create one of the best hip hop albums of all time in The Chronic. That album was all about his production and the introduction of Snoop to the masses after their Deep Cover track. Ren, Cube, and DOC were the guys regarded as legit MCs out of the NWA crew.
