Not sure what decisions could have been different in the actual series but the decisions that put us in that spot throughout the season certainly did.
Glad its over. We had no realistic shot of doing anything after Riley was unable to come back and Sale went down. No need to prolong the inevitable. One of the more frustrating seasons in recent memory. Lots of talent but just a horrible situational hitting team led by managers and executives who insisted on trying the same lineups and same approach over and over despite the same awful results There needs to be change in the offseason. We cant aw shucks this year and pretend the injuries were our only problem. Every hitter on the roster outside of Ozuna regressed.
Thank fuck that’s over. Get healthy, murder some people and sign some players that don’t suck. Sound good?
Either we stopped cheating or the whole league adjusted to our approach and we did nothing to counter it. Injuries and absurd bad luck aside, we played and lost the same 2-1/3-2 game for what felt like 100 times this year
Yeah injuries derailed the season but the absolute refusal to change anything with our hitting approach and lineups cannot be defended.
It's kind of depressing thinking about the future. We are stuck with Murphy. We are stuck with Soler. There's not an answer at SS that I can see in the system or on the free agent market. I'm not sure what Ozzie is anymore. I'm worried we've invested too much in Kelenic to actually fix left field.
Don’t think you compound that problem with another. They’ll exercise that team option and figure it out from there imo.
Soler could be who is our third outfielder next year and we will just have to deal with the awful defense.
I'm afraid we'd have to eat money to move Soler or Murphy. Or attach prospects. Hope I'm wrong. Probably not getting fair market value for Ozuna either. Whatever that even is.
This is what DOB kinda predicted this morning. He thought we might use Kelenic as a 4th OF this upcoming season with Soler starting in LF, and then move Soler to DH in 2026. That is unless the Braves convince Ozuna to sign an extension this offseason instead of picking up the option, he proposed $30M/3 years. He said Braves could obviously choose to trade either Kelenic or Soler, but he wasn’t sure they want to sell low on Kelenic as the easier of the two to trade nor would they likely want to eat most of Soler’s contract. All in all, nothing was said despite words being typed. Both by DOB and me.
I have a friend who thinks snit is doing a great job and is a good coach. Hit me with his most egregious errors. I think I’m still most upset about how he managed the Phils series last year.
Honestly, I don't think the (most) of the players are the issue. They need to make some staff changes, starting with Seitzer.
I don’t know that Snitker should be fired, but some things do feel stale. I think Snit’s biggest asset is his players play hard for him. In MLB, I might even argue that’s he most valuable trait a manager can have. He’s not good tactically, but I also don’t think he’s terrible.
Snit does things that drive me crazy in game. I don't think anyone would argue he's a great in game manager. I do think his style is good over a long season. He's very similar to Bobby and guys respond to that. I'm pretty apathetic towards him overall. I don't think he'd be jobless long if we went in a different direction (assuming he still wanted to manage. ) I do think AA could make a largely Snit proof roster but he makes things worse. He's stocked our team with a bunch of guy's that probably shouldn't be in the major leagues. Most of my blame lies with him.
With a manager like snit, you absolutely need that will hold people accountable. I think Wash and EY were those guys. Losing them really hurt. Fire both base coaches and try again imo.
I feel confident that we will have a very good pitching situation again next season. We need to find another lefty SP but there is just too much talent for it to be a significant problem. I am not sure how we fix the lineup and the issues that plague them especially in the playoffs. Strike outs, hitting approach, terrible base running. That is just fundamentally who we are as a team.
We need chipper back. He's an idiot but he's a hitting guru and a straight shooter. I'm not even sure why he's not around as much anymore.
He said in an interview he was wanting more time with family but that also our approach was making him mad
