He’s hanging the slider or it’s a non-competitive pitch in the dirt/off the plate more times than not
It really has been a disastrous pitch for him. He and the team continually insisting he's fine physically makes it look worse, imo. If he were hurt it'd be an excuse, if he's not then he's just bad. Even if it's just to rest him and have him working on side sessions, fake an IL stint. Not a chance any of the other guys would still be trotting out there every 5th day, results have to mean something at some point.
Luke has been really good this year and has been great for this team. Turning on him is dumb, but he doesn’t handle the ninth well at this point. Granted a few of his BS we’re getting BABIP to death early on but those seemed to leave him questioning his self. I really don’t want to try Swarzak in the ninth bc he’s going so well the way he’s being used. I’d probably trade for a closer or use Luke/Newk depending on how you feel about the matchups.
I want to see the Braves use Folty in the pen, so SCSA will be torn about who he wants to close games. Would love to see his inner monologue over that.
Drown ‘Em Listened to about 3/4 of the game, didn’t watch a single pitch live. Happy to do my part. Lock in a series win for the 3:35am game tomorrow.
Snit not holding back. Glad to see that. Folty needs to act like a professional athlete even when he doesn’t perform like one.
He ain't here for this baby back bitch shit. You're a pro. You're a former all star. You have the stuff to be a top of the line starter. Stop being a bitch. Get your head right and lead this staff. We need you, Folty. Beyond that... he's a dad. Do you really want your kids seeing you carry yourself in that manner when they look up to you and watch your every move? Just speaking as a dad you have to be conscious of these things with your kids.
I know Snit sucks at managing the bullpen but he’s actually pretty great otherwise. If he’s being critical of Folty, it’s to motivate him.
Hell of a comeback. Had to be pretty demoralizing to a team that appearance to be searching for reasons not to quit on the season. Win tomorrow could be another nail in the coffin. Can't believe the state of the Phillies. The kid the Marlins are throwing tomorrow has been fantastic. I'd think a sweep is in play and Kapler's seat may be a warming up.
We’re getting some sacrificial lamb AAAA pitcher named Austin Voth tomorrow. 4+ ERA in his past two years at AAA. Good walk and K rates but appears to give up a lot of hard contact. Should (knock on wood) be a lot of fun against Soroka
Folty definitely needs to not act like a child on the mound, but I like the fact that he was genuinely upset after the game. Not one of those dudes who says the right things but seems to not really give a shit. Hope he gets right in AAA, but obviously we shouldn't be counting on him for anything the rest of the year.
Does anybody know if allard has continued to throw 91-93? If his control and velo are back, he could help out.
I believe so. In his previous start before this he touched 93 early a time or two. Beyond that I think he was in that range you listed. He starts today so I guess we'll see.
chuckles whats our proprietary formula showing today? Smoltzy deserves to know early so they can get rich.
I literally just placed my wager on the Bravos -1.5 at -105. A lot of the odds aren't available yet because of the pitching change but I'm likely to pound the Braves team over against this rook.
This call up was obvious. Need to use the bullpen help until folty’s turn in the rotation comes up again, and Ynoa isn’t eligible unless injury allows it.
After some reflection about how much we kick ass in rubber matches I just made this my largest bet so far. Godspeed Soroka and co.
