He’s turning around. Can’t blame him for the slow start all things considered, but I’ve got a pretty good feeling he’s going to go on a tear in July/August.
I’m sure it’s just the timing, but maybe the Frauddie bullshit is now over so he can focus on his game.
He was obviously putting mountains of pressure on himself early on, and while it didn’t necessarily impact him at the plate he definitely got in his head in the field. He just seems more comfortable all around, and like you said a shadow was just lifted from his back. He’s going to wind up hitting 25+ homers and 50+ doubles. I’ll take that every day.
There was a lot to distract him. Aside from the whole Freddie thing, there was also coming home and signing a huge contract with the requisite weight that comes with those expectations. Love the guy, so happy he’ll probably finish his career here.
