We’re 100% getting Ohtanio. Heard it here first. Even Ronald loves him: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzueVV5rqpk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Someone explain the Kyle Wright trade to me cause I am still struggling. Would he still occupy a roster spot if he is on the IL all year? If not, why not just let him rehab and see what happens? He was signed for 1.5 mil for two more years and was a very promising young arm. And even if you are going to trade him, the return we got was horrible. Just a head scratcher to me
Only thing I can gather is the Braves think his shoulder is shot and wanted to move for a modicum of value
Think it’s definitely that. He’ll be 29 by the time he’s able to pitch again, and outside of a one-year window of excellence there’s not much to gauge on what he’s actually capable of sustaining at the big-league level. You’ve also got Murphy, Ritchie, Phillips, Waldrep, etc. working their way up, as well as Ynoa and Ian who’ve been up and are significantly younger. Think it was a dispassionate, rational move that kind of needed to be made.
I think the fact that we got what we got for Wright should be an indication of how live his market was.
If Brandon Woodruff is getting non-tendered then I’m guessing that CyWri was gonna meet the same fate if we didn’t trade him
Yes, though I think the Brewers’ situation + Woodruff being substantially more expensive also played a part.
His final two years would be more expensive you’ve got chronic shoulder injuries now on a guy with just one fluke season of production that can point to a 20 win season in arb
I'm pretty excited. We've made a lot of room. We'll have a top 5 lineup for at least the next 5 years. The last missing piece is a longterm SP to pair with Strider. Definitely Fried and Morton's last year, imo.
You sign Ohtani to DH this year, and then he moves in to the rotation next year when Chuck and Max leave.
Homer Gator take but he was always touted as having way more potential than college teammate Brady Singer partially due to his frame. Not sure what happened in KC but ideally just needed a change of scenery and chance to start fresh. Hope he can get everything back in order, has always had a helluva changeup.
I don’t think Nola’s stuff projects anything near worthy of a 7 year contract. With 25AAV those front years better be loaded.
