Some teams have gotten the sense the Braves are willing to trade both Inciarte and Foltynewicz. Acuna's presence make Inciarte understandable. To move Folty, the Braves would likely need to fill multiple needs and/or have the confidence another deal would land a front-line SP
It's not giving up necessarily if another team is clamoring for him and we can leverage that to our big advantage. We have 10 other high level prospects as you well know that can take his place. Just being on the conservative side, 3-4 of them will turn out to be studs, if not more. If that's how we get our long term corner OF I'm for it
Second baseman Ozzie Albies is a popular target among rival teams, though there’s no indication the Braves would move him. There’s interest in utilityman Johan Camargo, especially after the Braves added Josh Donaldson, prompting belief he could be expendable (the Braves are adamant he isn’t and plan for him to be a pivotal part of their team; there’s nothing to suggest otherwise). Outfielder Ender Inciarte has been a speculated trade candidate, and other teams haven’t shied away from calling on the 28-year-old Gold Glover. But the Braves already have one hole in the outfield, and dealing Inciarte – especially without receiving another outfielder in return – would require notable compensation, perhaps with accompanied move(s). Ronald Acuna would move to center in such scenario. Teams have asked about All-Star starter Mike Foltynewicz, but the Braves haven’t listened on their blooming ace. He will not be traded. Starter Julio Teheran would be movable if the team added another starter, but as the roster stands now, the Braves don’t intend to deal him due to a need for innings. The Braves’ wealth of pitching prospects factor into their 2019 plans, but they can’t be overly reliant on any of them.
Dodgers are desperate for a catcher. Could send him to LA for Puig. Would make a ton of sense for us.
I think Folty would be a shutdown closer. I just think if someone values him as a true ace we need to listen. Haniger for Folty straight up would be interesting
I'm all for getting creative. Wouldnt mind an OF for a pitcher, but Folty is a rock you can build around
I think he’s too volatile to be the foundation for a great rotation, but hopefully his maturity and mental approach advances with age.
"Former director of scouting Gary Rajsich has been hired by the Braves to do professional and amateur scouting, according to an industry source. The Braves also hired former Orioles East Coast scouting supervisor Kirk Fredriksson as an area scout." Rajsich drafted Gausman, among some others for Baltimore. Fredriksson has a lot of connections up in the Northeast, so that might be where he's assigned as an area scout.
He's still a very good starter, but it's not a stretch to think he's not a closer. It takes more than good stuff to fill that role.
at least with Castellanos and obviously Bryce you get a damn good bat. Adam Jones is barely a league average player offensively (102 OPS+) and you can see how bad he is on defense now
