Sounds like "fire" my ass, way to try to cover that shit up. Just so happens that the sound drops out every time now, lmao.
Josh getting things going is really encouraging to see. Glad me wondering about him the other night fired him up.
You hate to split at home vs the Mets. However, after dropping Thurs and Friday's games and beating deGrom tonight you walk away feeling much better. We're off tomorrow then get Arizona home Tues.
For funsies i went back and looked at how we started last season. We went 9-6 in our first 15 last year as well. I'm starting to get really excited about how 1-6 in our lineup are looking. Even Flowers is batting over 400 so far. Hopefully we get Mac back soon. Play Goat more and use Ender as a late inning defensive replacement. We've got a stew maybe.
I was basically drunk all weekend and saw very little of us. I’ll be more committed this week. Pls respect my decision.
But I streamed when I still knew how to and was game tracking. If I continued posting ITT during that you’d swear I was gin buckets
Short summary - I won money the first games, and lost the second two. Looking forward to an off day after the recent Braves winning form. Costly.
We're tied for 5th in MLB in run differential, so we got that going for us, which is nice. Also we have a 4.43 ERA so far as a team (16th) but if you take out the production of Newk, Wright, Wilson, Carle, and Venters (who will hopefully all be no longer on the MLB roster after today), the staff ERA would be 3.09 (which would be good for 5th).
Ender's contract of 7.7/8.7 and a 1mm buyout over the next 20/21 just seems fucking awful. Really feel like we've got some good things going, but we missed a window to really retool our Organization a bit. Ender shouldn't be in our roster and he's 100% dead weight going forward. GOAT should take 70% of his ABs and Pache/Waters will take a spot sometime in 2020 Probably missed a window to get anything of value for Newk and we still have a plethora of arms that will eventually go completely unused. What's more, we saw the Nats be super aggressive trading for pen help early in 2018. Wonder how we'll look Mid-May when we have nearly 2 months of data points. Trade deadline is gonna be interesting this year. Venters currently has a - 0.4 WAR. Jeez he's been awful
While I hate Ender as a hitter, still think that contract is a value because of the defense. Just let him hit 8th (or 9th) and play good D. I'd certainly move him though if a trade proposal arose. Not sure there was ever much of a window for a Newk deal. Everyone else saw the same peripherals that we did, knowing his control was going to regress and didn't match the numbers he was putting up during his hot stretch.
We'll see, but he's currently underwater right now bc his bat has been so so so so fucking bad. Ron has seemed to be at least competent in CF and GOAT has been limited in left and I really haven't seen much of any balls hit to him to judge how well he's doing. Wonder how defense vs drastically better bat plays out statistically I think at a minimum he was still a young player with potential growth. Not saying we'd get an elite prospect back but he had some value and now it's been diminished even further. Maybe he gets it right in AAA and can focus on getting better/more consistent without worrying about winning
Jason Heyward got 22 million a year and is an offensive black hole. Ender's deal isn't bad and wouldn't be hard to dump if we wanted to.
JHey actually appears to have made some big changes to his swing and is having a really good start to his season. He's getting the ball up off the ground more, pulling it less, and making more hard contact. Slash line is pretty.
I hope he's figured it out, but my point stands. He's been a 1-2 win player for years. Ender's contract isn't bad.
I think considering our current deals to Acuña and Albies the ender deal looks worse. Pache and Waters should both be ready at some point next year, hell, if you’re being aggressive one might be ready in the second half of this season. If you can find a suitor to take Ender’s contract the prospect you get back is of little importance.
I'm not really sure what Ender brings to the table that is appreciably better than what Pache could give right now.
Nothing. Just don’t want to rush pache and hurt his development. I feel like if he hits well in the first half he’s gonna make the Braves seriously consider calling him up.
You're not wrong, they could move Ender in a deal and be fine shifting Ron to CF and Goat to LF, but they'd need to add a real quality depth/bench piece to compensate. On the other hand, Ender provides some insurance cover for Nick in RF, who is just a shit defender at this point. Outfield defense would go from a clear strength to more of a question mark.
We should be able to add some bench bat's for near nothing. I'd like to see Ender/GOAT swap roles a bit. GOAT to a primary OF spot but still giving days off to basically everyone in the IF. Then Ender can fill back into the OF Ender can play CF, Ron in right, GOAT in left and give Nick the days off he needs. Really don't see why GOAT shouldn't be able to get 5 starts a week
