I have no idea what to think about our rotation over the next few years. Obviously Soroka and Fried are locks, but who knows besides them? Folty seems to be putting it together but he is still a coin flip for the time being. Julio is having a great year, but I don't know if we are willing to commit to him long term again. Touki, Wilson, Wright, etc all seemed like high potential starters and they have collectively sucked ass in the big leagues. Anderson has always been one of the crown jewels of our long term pitching prospects so expectations are through the roof for him. But I won't actually believe it until I see it in the big leagues based off of so many others guys shitting the bed when they got called up. I would love to re-sign Keuchel but I just think he will demand more elsewhere. Signing a high profile "ace" isn't really in AA's wheelhouse so I would expect him to sign an above average innings eater to be a back half of the rotation starter. I don't know why it wouldn't be Julio as long as he isn't asking for too much. Next year's rotation after an Anderson June ish call up: Soroka Fried Folty Anderson Julio That's pretty good, right?
i think we decline ace’s option and give him a 2-3 year deal for more guaranteed money overall but spread out for a lower cap hit
we just need to make a decision with touki and stick with it. yanking him back and forth between roles all year essentially wasted it for him imo still think he’s got the stuff that he flashed in the extra innings win against san fran
I think if the money makes sense we will resign them. I think the hesitancy you saw in FA was due to the compensatory pick tied to guys.
A lot hinges on how Folty looks, his second half is a large reason we're playing so well. His arm troubles in the first half really handicapped our rotation--really difficult when a guy that was an all-star the previous year, and who you hope to be your opening day starter, has to go down to AAA. If he's the same guy from 2018 and 2nd half 2019, we're in good shape. But a lot of up-and-down with him. But he's a great 2/3 starter if he's right. Not sure he's a #1.
These stats are dumb. We're 35-30 with Ender and 56-26 without him Are you telling me we wouldn't be a better team if he were healthy and available?
Depends on what Ender we are talking about. The one close to the Mendoza line or the one before he was injured?
as long as we don’t play in philly in the postseason, ace will be fine just doesn’t have “it” in this park
Julio is fucking trash. Walks and fucking hangers. Survives on smoke and mirrors and facing shit teams.
