i love how jrmy’s dumb brain has argued himself into a corner that deal is fantastic for a bench bat. as long as he’s used appropriately (not starting every day and hitting 5th) it’s great but our manager is too mentally retarded to do that so now jrmy is mad about this and just never going to acknowledge that he’s mad because snit is so bad
I don’t think we can get a quality relief pitcher for a bottom tier fan like Tobias. Maybe a low level prospect but that’s a stretch.
because of how the formula is set up, it’s nearly impossible for the bottom 5 to change. but here we are
important to remember that we likely win the world series if we hadn’t foolishly started DK instead of ace
We’ve been needing a new closer. Can’t think of anyone better than someone that loves to walk two guys then give up a bomb.
I think Folty’s got the sensibilities to be the closer. Unrelated, has anyone ever committed seppuku on the mound?
A look forward at our 2020 lineup 1. Ron 2. Oz 3. Fred 4. Nick 5. Riley 6. Flow 7. Ender 8. Bae if that doesn’t say World Series champ, idk what does
At his age, Markakis is likely below replacement level. Snit can only work with what he's given by the asshats at corporate and honestly who am I (or any in this thread) to question his methods since he has two more MOTY trophies than all of us combined.
The fact that he was at replacement level last year and now he's a year older and still recovering from a hamate fracture
Braves officially announce they have: -Re-signed Markakis -Re-signed Flow -Extended a qualifying offer to JD -Declined the option on Billy Hamilton -Declined the option on Julio Teheran
Julio is a way better baseball player than Markakis or flowers. Still, I'm good with it if we feel the market for starting pitching allows us to replace him on the cheap.
I am good with Julio coming back on a much cheaper deal. Dude is a bulldog that eats innings up. He is great for depth in the organization.
The homers are nice, but I feel like I would absolutely hate watching him hit in the low .200s and strikeout a million times.
This is gonna be the same report we hear in four years when Kakes is staring down the barrel of 3000 hits
I bet they have Kakes and Duvy platoon mind. Hopefully not plan A however. Also Acuña needs to start moving to right permanently to make room for Pache eventually in CF.
I don't really care about his batting average, but the strikeouts are definitely a concern. 30 bombs and solid defense probably a worthy tradeoff though. Good type of player to help lengthen a lineup.
He definitely seems like a guy who was helped by the ball last year though. If he's really just a high teens homer guy and his OPS falls back to ~.700, I'm not all that interested.
Have the numbers for Ozuna and Castellanos? I doubt we're a player for either, particularly Ozuna with the pick attached, but still interested.
He's been slightly above average or better hitter pretty consistently outside of 2018. Even if the homers do decline, SunTrust is better park effects wise for extra base hits, which could help offset some of that. You're right though, the stuff with the ball makes things so difficult to evaluate. Would help to know if we're getting the same ball next season or the playoff ball, or what.
5. Marcell Ozuna, OF Age: 28 2019 salary: $12.25 million WAR: 2.6 OPS+: 107 wRC+: 110 Slash line: .241/.328/.472 R: 80 2B: 23 3B: 1 HR: 29 RBI: 89 SB: 12 CS: 2 Ozuna has hit 23 or more home runs for four consecutive years, and this year he added stolen bases to his résumé, swiping 12 in 14 attempts after stealing just 14 bases in his first six years in the big leagues. The two-time All-Star turns 29 next week and has won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award. In 2019, he arrived in spring training with shoulder issues but worked hard in the weight room to regain strength in his shoulder. He has a career .329 on-base percentage and 112 OPS+, and any team that signs him should expect similar numbers. Best fits: Cardinals, Braves, Reds, Giants, Mariners Contract prediction Years: Five AAV: $18.5 million Total: $92.5 million 9. Nicholas Castellanos, OF Age: 27 2019 salary: $9.95 million WAR: 2.8 OPS+: 121 wRC+: 121 Slash line: .289/.337/.525 R: 100 2B: 58 3B: 3 HR: 27 RBI: 73 SB: 2 CS: 2 Castellanos became a doubles machine this year, belting 58 of them between the Tigers and Cubs. The best thing that happened to him in 2019 was his trade to the Cubs at the trade deadline. He fit in well there, benefitting from being surrounded by so many good hitters in their lineup. His free-agent value increased after the trade, but his below-average defense in right field can’t be ignored, and he’ll need to sign with a team that has plus defenders at the other two spots. Best fits: Braves, Cubs, Marlins, Blue Jays, Mariners, Padres, Giants, Angels Contract prediction Years: Four AAV: $16 million Total: $64 million
