Claimed Kyle Garlick and Victor Arano off waivers from Philly. Love the Arano claim. If he comes back healthy, he could be an incredibly solid piece in the pen. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/victor-arano-and-the-power-of-movement/
From Olney: It's true that the Braves dabbled in the conversations for Springer -- but not as toe-to-toe bidding competition for the Blue Jays and the Mets, but rather as a potential safety net for the outfielder in case the free-agent conditions were so poor that the options might've compelled Springer into taking a shorter-term deal than he sought. The market is bound to be more robust after the next collective bargaining agreement is signed -- perhaps next December -- with agents and executives expecting teams to build on the cost certainty that'll follow and spend more aggressively. If Springer and his representatives had preferred to take a smaller offer, or wait for that, he could've signed a one-year deal somewhere -- just as Josh Donaldson and Marcell Ozuna did with the Braves in 2019 and 2020, respectively. But Springer, who turned 31 in September, instead took the best long-term offer he had this winter.
This one year deal shit is great. I love wondering every offseason if we’re going to field a competitive lineup.
At some point maybe this piece of shit organization will realize it's OK to sign someone to a long term deal while we have a fucking massive amount of young talented controllable cheap players.
BJ Upton has scarred us for life but John Malone would rather sign a bunch of All-Stars to one year deals than go to therapy
We are 40 fucking million under our payroll the last two years and tried to give the #1 bat on the market a 1 year deal for probably 50 bucks. Nice work AA.
AA has to be loved by the fucking shareholders like Clown Baby Braves are just competitive enough to keep 80% of the fans happy, fill the stadium, keep the real estate prices high. Yet they are cheap enough to keep the dividend ratio sky high
I feel like Tobias favorite Commish Manfred has really fucked teams like thr Braves. The unknown of the DH is really fucking us.
lots of chatter itt when AA doesn’t make a move for springer but silence when he pulls this off hmmm hypocrites
There’s going to come a day when we’re down a run and Kakes, Panda and Ender are due up in the bottom of the ninth
Gonna be a rough couple first games as Snit burns through the bench getting used to no DH... double snits too early and over thinking L/R match ups
We have our kids catch pros sometimes. Luke would probably kill one of them. He's probably 95 right now with a slider that never approaches 60 feet.
I wouldn't catch Luke if he paid me for it. On top of hitting 96-97 and throwing those spike sliders he has no idea where the fuck any of it is going Not a chance
So Panda is probably the last big move before the season. I guess we put him at 3rd and Big Country in LF. Could be adequate -- he's had some really great playoff moments in his career.
That guy has an Acuña level contract. Owed like 3/33. We'd have to push all in. I'm good with it though. Would still need a reliever.
Oh man. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor.../trevor-bauer-mets-offer-contract/4258036001/ De Goat, Bauer, Carrasco, Stro, Thor, Matz Lindor, Polar Bear, McNeil
Sorry, we're going to hold him b/c he's cheap then he'll go the way of Folty and we'll just release him
