I think so. His defense is elite. He's worked hard on his hitting in the off season and the results are glowing so far. He's second in the NL in RBIs with 18 already. He wants to stay in Atlanta. It's home for him right? I imagine we could get some sort of hometown discount. Really proud of his progress.

Absolutely. I'm for anyone but Newk. We've been trying to make that work to no avail for too long. The guy is either unwilling, or unable to throw strikes. This isn't AA, nobody has time for a project with coin flip performance when you're hoping to win a division.
He made me apologize after he got his shit together last start, but like you said, we can’t afford his Jekyl and Hyde bullshit. Our division is too competitive whereas every game matters. Really worried we missed out window on him. You can say our other young guys who have struggled a bit are still trying to figure it out. With Newk, he just is who he is. Hopefully some shit team with a good reliever is willing to make a swap. Maybe they’ll value the cheap innings over having a guy who’s there to protect leads the shit team doesn’t get.
Someone would happily take Newk. He’s a big, durable, lefty who can give you 160-180 innings of maddeningly inconsistent but overall average pitching and he’s got some stuff

Bc Albies leading off is a super obvious move. I thinking sitting Bae against DeGrom is more interesting. Especially if a low score game is more likely to win, defense would be at a premium this game with two Ace pitchers going tonight. Guess the Braves think the left handed bat is more valuable or maybe GOAT has hit Degrom better or simply giving Bae a night off. But sure our hot hitting Albies and high obp at leadoff was the real shocker.

Glad they went ahead and made the move with Newk. I'm not sure he's ever going to be able to fix what ails him, but worth a shot to find out. The ceiling is still super high, but the floor is now a volatile but dynamic LH reliever.
