His ERA was about 1.25 below his FIP heading into his last start. Though his ERA was low, it was a lot of luck. These last two starts have been putrid.
Think it’s about time we end the Ace every fifth day deal. He just nibbles bc his stuff is so average. This team has been rolling and that’s great, but we’re not digging out from a 7-8 run deficit every night. The starters aren’t good enough. I think the only ones you can keep running are Keuchel, Soroka and Fried. Hope one of the young arms/Folty step up and we trade for a 2-3 type starter.
Julio feels like the pitching staff version of Markakis. No matter how much they suck at times, they seem untouchable. Oh well. It's one game. We swept them at home. Just need to win one to win the season series vs them. Here's hoping Fried continues improving tomorrow.
Yeah like I said I'd rather have Julio face Lester where it's a likely loss whichever night those guys pitch for us/against us and hope that the rest of our rotation can take two of the next three without having to face Lester or Hamels.
For those on Instagram... Flow appears to not be able to sleep, and is commenting all the way through this post
I don’t see why Contreras would take offense to what Frenchy said. He wasn’t making it personal, he was just joking that if he knew his career was over he’d have just done it for the hell of it
I’m guessing he was moody about the strike before the homer and Flowers told him to chill. Naturally, he wasn’t very chill after the dinger. Let’s just hope his brother is cooler.
Yeah the whole thing seemed really odd considering his brother is in our system. Didn't know if there was history between him and the Braves, but running his mouth and taunting the dugout out of nowhere seemed like a really weird move.
"Hey Willson I fucking duct-taped your baby brother to the foul pole at our spring training complex and he cried like a little bitch"

How Albies turned it around The Braves privately took exception to criticism of Ozzie Albies’ seven-year, $35 million extension as too club-friendly. Albies’ guarantee was higher than José Ramírez ($26 million), Ketel Marte ($24 million) and Whit Merrifield ($16.25 million) received in their respective extensions, and in the Braves’ view, the second baseman’s poor second half in 2018 made him more of a risk than many perceived. Albies, 22, seemed to justify the team’s fears when he slumped in the first two weeks of May, displaying the same swing-happy tendencies, struggles with breaking balls and difficulties against right-handed pitching that marked his decline in ’18. A switch-hitter, Albies batted .167 with a .440 OPS from May 2 to May 16, with even worse numbers against righties. His overall OPS dropped from .855 to .734. The Braves, seeking answers during a staff meeting they hold every six weeks, determined that the best thing for Albies’ development might be to drop him to the eighth spot. They also discussed batting him second between Ronald Acuña Jr. and Freddie Freeman, enabling him to see more fastballs. Ultimately, they decided such a move would be a quick fix that did not solve the problem. Albies had started the season batting mostly sixth, then moved to leadoff almost exclusively on April 13. In the meeting, the front office, manager Brian Snitker and the coaches determined that hitting Albies in front of the pitcher would force him to be more patient, particularly on the increased number of breaking balls he would see. Snitker and hitting coach Kevin Seitzer then met with Albies to inform him of the plan. The change had the desired effect. Since May 16, Albies has made 20 of his 35 starts in the eight hole, batting no higher than sixth. During that time he has batted .323 with a .900 OPS and almost identical splits against lefties and righties. His overall OPS stands at .805 Snit is a sneaky good coach
I think we can all agree on this. I think it’s his in game management that leaves something to be desired.
I love Snit the coach. Hate snit the in game manager at times. Snit has a lot of Bobby in him and the players adore him. Seeing him embrace numbers and analytics is also nice.
Snit is a damn treasure and you ingrates are lucky to have his savvy button pushing and under-the-radar swagger
So when is the next staff meeting to determine what to do with Kakes... or will Kakes be conducting the meeting?
agree 100%, it would be great to build up a huge lead in the East to skip a few starts for Soroka/Fried considering they are in uncharted territory and not even to July yet Mike Soroka, innings pitched: 2019- 87.2 Most in a season- 153.2 (2017) Max Fried innings pitched: 2019- 82.2 Most in a season- 118.2 (2013 & 2017)
Now go quote my millions of pro-Snit posts Everyone has an off-day occasionally, sometimes even every day (you)
Can somebody do a wellness check on Tobias after last nights start. I’m concerned for his health and well being.
